That would be good if its a class transfer, but just because they used great HD materials, doesnt mean the transfers good I guess but I can hope I havent wasted my cash and the words HD transfer so give me more hope.

If I knew the same transfer was on the 2-disk, I'd upgrade, but I don't want to shell out for the LE.

I noticed there's an extra DTS (Cantonese) track on this one. I wonder if that means the Mandarin DTS track is no longer full-bitrate.

The pic quality looks alot better than the initial release. I wondering what avbuzz was referring to.

Those pics are from the LE release, which is 3-disk (soundtrack CD included). I have no idea if it's the same PQ on the 2-disk.

I see....but why the hell would the studio put the HD transfer w/ the LE and not include it with the 2-Disc SE? Sounds like a real shitty move.

I really don't want to drop $60 just for a new transfer.

Whoa!

Now those "after" photos are what the movie is supposed to look like. Wow, that's night & day.

So can anyone confirm if the picture quality is the same on the 3disc and 2disc versions? I couldn't imagine them being different, but stranger things have happened.

Not that this is at all definitive, but Hivizone is claiming that the 2-disc set has "Re-mastered video" (they don't yet offer the 3-disc set).

yesasia.com, hkflix.com, pokerindustries.com are no longer selling any copies of house of flying daggers anymore. dvdasian.com only has a link up to pre-order the r1 version in may 2005.

Hmmm.... I wonder why????

I just bought the 2-disc (cheap-ass) version from Cdwow. Hopefully it has the HD transfer.

I cant fault Miramax for trying to halt the import of movies they have doemstic rights to, they paid for the rights and want maximum return on their investment, its more of what they do after they get the rights ( holding movies forever, redubbing, ect.) that I think where they mess up.

No one said Miramax owns the rights to House of Flying Daggers, they were just using Miramax as an example.

Any studio that buys the rights to any foreign movie will try and block the sale of the foreign DVDs, especially now that HERO made so much despite the fact that the DVD was on sale for a long time before they started enforcing bans on it.

I guess they can try to stop, but they cannot as thats imposable, I could get hundreds of copies of Hero if I wanted to, theres no way for them to stop me I even managed to sell loads of Ebay while others were stopped. Incondistent studio polocies.

My DVDs shipped yesterday. I've been patiently waiting for a good release of House of Flying Daggers so when I heard the new Edko editions had new transfers I eagerly snatched up the 2 disc set off Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...353825036&rd=1) but now I'm worried that it doesn't have a new transfer--only the 3 disc set does. (Which looks a LOT better, btw.) Here's hoping it won't take too long to arrive and the transfer is a good one!
