It sucks. This is just as stupid as putting clothes on your pets.

And that movie is???

candyrocket786 10-01-04 04:06 PM

Is the movie any good?

clckworang 10-01-04 05:20 PM

That was going to be my question, candyrocket786.

DonnachaOne 10-01-04 05:22 PM

Um... no.

flashburn 10-01-04 05:52 PM

Looks pretty corny..

But the movie does sound interesting. Anyone seen it already?

Bill Geiger 10-01-04 07:16 PM

That karate uniform is suree to gather some dust and turn it from white to tan in storage with other movies.

movieking 10-01-04 07:31 PM

Indeed. Neat little gimmick that is sure to boost sales a great deal though.

DrGerbil 10-01-04 07:34 PM

Looked it up on imdb... hasn't received even 5 votes.

clckworang 10-01-04 08:11 PM

How does a film that hasn't even received 5 votes on imdb warrant a special limited package? I'm not saying that a movie only has quality if it has lots of votes on that site, but you would think it would have at least 5 if it is popular enough to get some fancy packaging.

IMDB is solely an English-language site used primarily by Americans. This movie is a Korean-language film seen so far primarily by Koreans in a theater. I think the LE packaging has more to do with the film being the #4 movie of the year in Korean Domestic Box Office than what imdb has to say about it.

No doubt it was popular, but is it any good? Box office success doesn't equate to a quality movie... is it worthwhile for us to plunk down cash on fancy packaging and a terrible movie?

I've scoured the web, looking for a review, but have come up short...

I don't know. I was speaking on why the LE DVD deserved a release, not whether it deserves a purchase.

However, here's some reviews:

Well its starting to sell out everywhere anyway so most you will have missed your time to buy it.

and really who gives a shit about reviews! see it yourself instead of piggybacking on other people opinions!

Jay G. 10-02-04 12:27 PM

Well, some of us don't have unlimited funds, and can't buy every movie that looks interesting to us. Reviews at least give a hint at whether a film is worth paying $32 for an LE.

Romerojpg 10-02-04 06:36 PM

Not really as Reviews are not your opinions, so really they mean absolute shit to me, if a film gets 1 star and is said to be the worst film ever made, who cares? if I want to see it I dont care at all, if I went by reviews like most normal people I would never have seen soo many superb films.

and really you could easily flog it on Ebay for way more than you paid for it if you dont like it :)

Trigger 10-02-04 06:57 PM

Northern Exposure came in a zipped up parka jacket.

Romerojpg 10-02-04 07:55 PM

Yup and mines stilll mint condition as I kept it in the plastic wrap it came in as I opened it carefully at the bottom, if everyone did that you wont have any probs at all with the clothing for this set at all. I do it with most my dvds as that way they are kept in perfect condition.

The purpose of a review isn't to tell you whether or not you'll like the movie. It's to tell you enough about the movie in a coherent enough fashion that you can decide whether you are likely to agree with the reviewer's opinion or not.

For example, I disagree with Roger Ebert's movie opinions about 60% of the time, but I can tell from his writing if I will like a movie that he trashes (or vice versa) based on what he says about it. This week he gave a positive review to Ladder 49, but I can tell from his writing that I will not like the things about it that he liked, therefore his review is still useful.

Romerojpg 10-02-04 09:13 PM

I just dont agree much on that, Reviewers are all different and some ruin films, some are wrong and some are just stupid, I know if I will want to see a film from either a trailer or a simple plot summary.

I dont really read any reviews until after I have seen a film, mainly because of spoilers in todays days as most reviewers ruin too many films and give away wayy to much. I like to go in as blind as I can and know as little about whats coming up as I can.

I want to see Fighter in the Wind from a very basic plot summary I saw ages ago, then I saw a simple teaser trailer and that was enuff for me to know I want to see the film, the fact its a snazzy super Limited Edition set also helps a bit, but really nobody no matter what they say will ever change me from seeing anything once I have set my sights on it. :)

clckworang 10-02-04 09:23 PM

Trailers are definitely not enough get my ass into a movie seat. Anymore, there are people who specialize in making trailers. It is at the point where a movie has to be a real steaming piece of shit for the studio not to be able to release a half-decent trailer. A good trailer (or even plot synopsis) in no way guarantees an enjoyable movie experience for me.

As Josh Z said, though, a review can help me get a better idea if I think I might enjoy a film or not. As Josh said, I ultimately might not agree with a review but it might give me the basis to know whether or not it would be something that I might enjoy.

DrGerbil 10-02-04 09:55 PM

Certain critics have their biases, but after reading many reviews, you become familiar with them...

No reason to get the LE. A Korean SE or HK version will be released in the future... then perhaps i'll check it out. :)

Jah-Wren Ryel 10-03-04 12:14 AM

Anyone else think the "robe" makes it look like a super-deluxe LE of a porno instead of a real movie? I was half-expecting to see something completely different under the cover...

Romerojpg 10-03-04 09:05 AM

It may do a Basic Instict when you leave it on a chair!
