DVD shopping in Toronto ... suggestions please?

Hello,

This question goes out to all Torontonians out there:
I'm going to be in Toronto for a few days and am interested in some suggestions for good stores to shop for region free and asian dvds.
I know that Chinatown will be a definite ... but what I am concerned about is trying to avoid bootlegs (if i wanted bootleg HK discs I'd simply go downtown here in Calgary).
So any specific store suggestions would be greatly appreciated (with a general address/location/storename please).

Thanks for any help.

hey, not too sure about all Toronto, but myself, couldn't really find much at all downtown. Pretty much all the stores in chinatown sell bootlegs, I'd try Pacific Mall in Markham if you're looking for asian flicks. While there are still a lot of bootlegs there, there are like two stores that sell legit (although only HK) dvds.

On a side note, there is an awesome videostore on Queen St. (Queen Video???)... has probably like every single movie you could want, including non-region 1 titles available for rent.

Have a fun trip.

Unfortunately, many Chinese stores in Toronto are full of boots. But one good chain that sells legit discs is WY Trading. They have a store near Chinatown at 460B Dundas Street West (ph# 416-340-8096). This store is your best bet.

You could try the previously mentioned Pacific Mall (4300 Steeles Ave, Markham), but if you are just going to be in the downtown T.O. area, going up to Markham might be a bit inconvenient. Also, most stores there sell mostly bootlegs, except for WY Trading (they have a location up there too) and Broadcast Books and Gifts.

Thank you both for the replies.

I'll definitely check out WY Trading. Staying downtown in not necessarily essential ... so I will look into the Pacific Mall as well, but if the only 'legit' store in that area is a WY as well, I will probably just stick to the Dundas street location.

Thanks again.
