Hey all,

I recently picked up the domestic (i.e. R1) boxed-set of ER, and I have to say that I wasn't that impressed. The anamorphic presentation is a bit of a let-down, especially as I would have preferred the full-frame presentation of the original season. Worse, however, the prints used to master the show seem to be *really* shoddy, and I see visible and obvious dirt and smudges on the print from time to time.

This caused me to go back and reference the one ER episode I have downloaded, from rips of the Japanese DVD set. Sure enough, the video was vibrant, in the correct AR, and (most importantly) clean.

As such, I'm interested in picking up these Japanese sets. Are the non-widescreen ones still available? Are they ever inexpensive? Is it possible to find them used? Heck, is it as worth it as I've convinced myself it is?

Some of them should be already OOP and it would be somewhat hard to find those used DVDs unless you have friends who live in Japan.

Now we are probably talking about > 10 bucks PER DISC after international shipping. Maybe you are better off asking anyone you know who might be able to get those DVDs for you.

Some forum members may visit Japan so they should be able to do something.

There might be some used sets at the 2nd hand DVD stores.I am not sure about the non widescreen editions however!Don't expect the prices to be cheap!
