Question about Twilight Samurai R2 2-disc

I couldn't find the answer after a search, but was wondering if anyone knows whether or not the extras on disc 2 have English subtitles or not. Thanks....

Region 2 UK? Why would it not have subtitles?

Extras didn't bother me so I went for the Region 3 Region 3

Much cheaper too.

The Region 3 is a little bit cheaper at www.cdwow.com (has been affilated to DVDTalk) at US$18.95

Oops. My bad. I am fairly new to the all-region thing and got my regions mixed up. Thought R2 was Japan for some reason. Thanks for the info though...

Region 2 is Japan and UK. I think the person that posted after you was confused. I don't know specificially whether the Japanese Twilight Samurai has English subs on the extras, but as a general rule they don't. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen an Asian DVD that had the special features subtitled into English.

I'm not confused. You do seem confused. Region 3 is the country of origin for the disc reviews above.

There is a UK Region 0 DTS 2 disc collector edition getting a release in August from Tartan Distribution. There is to be a single disc edition too apparently.

That is what I assumed the poster meant.

Also, there are at least 30 countries who are Region 2. Not just Japan and the UK.

The 2 dvd Tartan release in UK has now been canned, its a single dvd, film only release I am affraid to say :( no extras now.

good job I have my Japanese limited edition :)

Never knew that. Still being listed by quite a few retailers.

The R2J dvd extras does NOT have English subs. It does have a bunch of deleted scenes which I haven't seen on any other release.

So my BIG question....are there anything other than unsubtitled extras on the R2 2-disc to warrant getting it over the R3 1-disc version? The price is around $20-$30 difference. Not sure how much I want to pay for extras anymore...but if the film is uncut or better audio/video then sometimes it is rather than double dipping later on.

To me, by far the most interesting extra on the second disc of the R2J-release is the split-screen (or rather picture-in-picture) comapraision of the fight scenes (in window) vs storyboard (done in classic martial arts teaching drawings).

TheV,
I thought the audio and video were fine on the R3 1-disc.
