Korean "Last Emperor"

Does anyone own this edition of the movie?

http://www.koreandvds.com/dvddetail.html?id=14254

The page states that it is the longer cut of the film in anamorphic widescreen. However, the cover art looks just like the old Korean DVD for the movie, a 2-disc set which contained a beautiful anamorphic remaster of the theatrical cut and then a crappy port of the lousy-quality Region 1 Extended Cut.

Is this just a reissue, or is it a newly remastered version? Anyone know?

Is there? If so, I missed the announcement. There are no preorder listings at Amazon or DVD Empire, either.

At one time there was one planned. Last I heard of it was over 2 years ago. Now that Artisan has been bought by Lions Gate, I'm not sure how that'll effect the eventual release.

If you can live with the theatrical cut, the Korean disc is terrific.

I have the DVD but I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. In any case, I never saw the theatrical cut so I would not be in a position to advise on whether this is different.

The theatrical cut is 160 minutes while the extended cut is 219 minutes. That's no small difference. So if you can check how long the movie is, whether the transfer is anamorphic, and give us some general thoughts on how it looks, that would be a big help.

Extended cut really sucks... theatrical is far better in my opinion
