You should check your home cinema setup because there's no such thing to the human ear. My dog does notice, though, it must be said.
Not that I want to start the whole 'PAL -v- NTSC' debate again. I have over 500 PAL discs and there's definitely no sound problem. I'm assuming you guys who complain, either have bad/poorly configured systems or a hearing problem that's -as yet- undiagnosed.

As for your second paragraph, please add "according to my ears" to it. None of it makes sense.
*ahem* little piece of advice, newbie. You should really know what you're talking about before you go off like that. Otherwise you'll get a reputation. Maybe being from the UK, you've never HEARD an NTSC disc. Check it out. You might change your tune.
Not that you'd hear a difference though...

digitalfreaknyc: Science begs to differ
Which science? If you have data of audible proof of this, please post it so I can learn from the information.
I prefer to believe people who actually live in PAL countries (and listen to NTSC material too) but I'm willing to look at your facts.
We're waiting.

I 'HEARD' there were Weapons of Mass Destruction™ in Iraq. I don't believe that either.
Please post your facts and try not to be offensive.

LOOK AT THE RUNNING TIME OF ANY PAL VERSION OF A MOVIE. You think it was edited? PAL movies are ALWAYS shorter. It's all about the frames per second. Do a little research and then come back to the boards.
And be careful, the last guy who entered into this debate used the same "Iraqui" comparison. He was banned. Don't start.

digitalfreaknyc: Dude...listen to the same material on NTSC and PAL. The only one I could give you would be the theme to Will and Grace as that's the only PAL discs I own. I got rid of all the other ones beacuse I couldn't stand the speed-up. You're fighting a lost cause.
Don't some of the people (especially that woman with the big hair) speak with a high pitch anyway? I'm not sure how PAL could make her voice any higher. So this is your only example and this makes you a specialist in this area?

I never said there wasn't a technical difference, I said I can't hear a difference.

Is that your science? The science of being a long term member and posting threats?

digitalfreaknyc: How about this? There's no PAL speedup. You, your ears and your 500 discs are right.
No, there's is a speedup, but it can't be heard in my opinion.
I also have 400 NTSC discs so I can compare.
If your only science is bullying and acting liking a child, there's hardly going to be a reasonable debate.

(over) 500 PAL discs plus 400 NTSC. Wow. Impressive.
You must be an expert.
FYI...you admit there's a speed-up. But since YOU don't hear it, that means it doesn't exist. No one will ever force you to hear it as much as some people are just tone deaf. They'll never be able to tell differences in pitch or notes. Therefore, there's no point in debating this.

Looking back on the search for this site you barge in on every single thread in the International Forum when this debate comes up. Always with negative comments with no facts, just science 'lite' and your know-all tone.
Maybe you should take your own advice.

digitalfreaknyc, I think maybe the safest input in such threads is exemplified here.
Daniel Windsor, you've said that you've researched past threads on this topic which means you know that silly arguments along the above lines are not something most of us wish to see. Various people have contrived to post useful contributions in times past, one of the more interesting being the links here.
It has all been done before and gung ho "arguments" from any quarter are unwelcome. Please be careful, people, as there may well be collateral damage.
