that looks really nice! does you happen to know what the specs are (besides the english subs and dts)? the case itself looks pretty thick...perhaps a booklet along with the figure?

the complete specs are yet to be announced. Other than the figure you mention and the fact that the disc will be around 35 euro i dont know anything else.

Here's the info:

Any more news on this release. Just wondering if any new details of the contents have been released. I heard it might come in a wooden box?

not much info yet though Fnac has it up for pre-order. Amazon.fr also has this new shot of it. It appears that it will be a big box "The rules of the Game"-style plastic slip-cover...or something similar from what I can tell. It should be beautiful

wooden box ...where did you hear that?

Well on the fnac website it states "Boîtier en bois laqué" - lacquered wooden box. That's nothing official though. I also found this thread if you can read french (which I cannot!) http://www.dvdrama.com/forums/viewto...light=mononoke

I don't think that Amazon dvd is the correct release If you look on the page it says it was released in March 2002.

By the way, is fnac a reliable place to order Limited Editions from?

Oh, and from what I could barely understand in that thread - it looks like there's a Spirited Away LE on the way in May!

I went through the entire thread and here are the specs I found:

Disque 1 :

+ 4 mini documentaires :
« Quand Disney rencontre Ghibli » (5’30’’)
« Les coulisses de la création de la scène finale » (3’)
« Les effets spéciaux de l’eau, de la pluie et du vent » (3’30’’)
« L’origine du titre du film » (2’)

Contient aussi une figurine de San.

*******
The French are also talking about a very limited count of copies-30.000. I dont know if this realy is the case but given what happened with the recent Dogville release I would say that if you want this version, which looks amazing, I would go for it ASAP.

FNAC is indeed a VERY RELIABLE e-tailer.

******
Yes, there is a SPIRITED AWAY LE coming but specs or cover work are not available as of yet. The news was first posted last year, early December I think.

Cheers,
Pro-B

But the DTS track is French, what's the point to have a dubbed DTS track, while original Japanese track is still DD2.0 or DD5.1?? And what about the special features, are they English subbed?

In the country selection on fnac, is the US listed? I can't seem to find it anywhere in the country list when trying to put in my shipping info.

Edit: I finally found it. I didn't expect it to be listed under E.

I have the Japanese 6 DVD double boxset which is pretty comprehensive special features wise (4 discs dedicated! ) - though sadly 80% of them are Japanese only but it's fairly self explantory as to what's going on. I'd highly recommend this set as an alternative to the French release (unless of course the features are in English/English subs!). In case anyone was wandering - Discs 1 and 2 are the domestic theatrical and International versions of the film. Disc 3 is the entire film in animated storyboard form.

From France :
There's two Mononoke Hime pic through this thread
Actually, there is a first LE release of Mononoke Hime which is the cristal box (second pic). It was released few years ago and is now no more available I think... Or you have to seek for it. Inside is the movie for as much as can remember. The box is very fragile for the plastic box is easylly breakable. Inside there's a piece of the film.
I can't remember if it is a double DVD release.

Now, for March 2004, a new LE will be released.
It seemed to be presented inside a wooden lackered box as the Fnac site said.
I'm looking forward for this edition. Since I've already owned the movie twice, I want to see the packaging and the San figure before owning this set...

And Wow !!! the japanese box set makes me drawn...
Sure, Japanese knows how to make collectible items !!

Thanks haclong! The packaging sounds like it could be great - but apart from the figure nothing has been confirmed. Let us know if you hear anything.

As for the cristal box edition, there is only one DVD.

I have seen the wooden lackered box edition. I have actually held it in my hands
I haven't opened it though... sorry

for the height and width, not much bigger than a regular DVD case, but of course, much more thick than a regular DVD box.
The box is lackered, with burgundy/red. As for the "wooden" part, since i haven't opened the box, we can't know for sure.
For as much as i can remember it clairly, the text and inscriptions are on a plastic cover which are around the lackered box.
Inside, there's a San figure but I haven't see if the figure is well done or not. Two DVD.
For the movie : audio tracks : french DTS, french 5.1, english, japanese and subtitles : french, english
DVD 2 is the bonus : interview of Miyazaki, making of etc... can't remember...

Oh... on the side of the box, I have notice a little number 1...
It may say that this wooden lackered box edition of ghibli movie is the first one of a new collection $_$ ...
That's mean (maybe) that we can expect a wooden lackered box edition for Chihiro, Laputa and more to come...

I haven't see if it is a numbered collectible edition

Ok, here is all that I know for now
