What's the scoop on Kung Fu Hustle?

The production has been so tightly under wraps, it's difficult to find any worthy info about it. All I wanna know is when it will be done and out and in my hands?

For those who don't know yet - this is Stephen Chow's latest film (since Shaolin Soccer) and the basic synopsis I got was that it's set in the 1940s and Chow plays a character obsessed with Kung Fu, but he can't fight. I don't care what it's about - you had me at "Stephen Chow"

The movie is just finished the shooting in Shanghai. For the release schedule it is on the hands of the WBs people.
I don't really think they will push this for the summer cause it is not enough time for the post-prod.
At the beginning of this year they did release a photo to the HK press in which Chow is fighting with gangs of axe.

Don't forget Jeffrey Lau is helping Chow to direct this project.

And yes I know you all have the Shalion Soccer dvd, but, for those who live in N America, please go the the cinema to support Chow. Even though it is a short version.

I saw that picture in my searches... So this won't be a summer release? Dang... more waiting. :/

As for Shaolin Soccer in theaters... I'm so torn - I want to send a message to Miramax, but at the same time I want to support SC. bleh.

Don't get to hung up on it, dude. Your single ticket purchase is not going to matter to anybody but you.

If you want to have even the slightest scrap of an impact, write Miramax a letter.

The DVD may be out by the end of the year. It usually just takes about 2 months for the DVD to come on in Hong Kong. The movie finished wrapping a month or two ago. The did some reshoots a little while ago, so like has been said, they'll probably wait until late summer or just after summer for a release.

It's taking a long time for this movie to come out, but hey, it's still better than Wong Kar-Wai.

Guess I might as well not vote or pay taxes either since I don't make a difference in anything - thanks for setting me straight.

I have written them letters.

I re-read some of it.. but I'm not sure how it plays because Stephen Chow is visually funny. And I'm sure there are things lost in the translation. I have a hard time getting thru this script.

According to KFC, Shaolin Soccer Miramax DVD in the US will come out late August and be the 111min cut, but barebones. So what does that mean for a theater run? No chance I'd guess.

Kung Fu Hustle is supposedly going to be released during chinese new year 2005. dammit.

Stephen Chow: Still playing soccer?

Thanks Trigger. It's funny that the voice over is English but the subs were in Chinese.

The english voiceover kinda has me worried... I hope some american studio doesn't get a hold of this film so they can molest it with their dirty fingers.
