Novice seeking help...!!!
 

I posted this over at the Home theater forum but without much success so I thought I would try here as well since this forum is for "region free players" among other topics.

I would love to buy a DVD recorder (and player) so that I can hook it up to my VCR and transfer my family home videos to disc. There are so many to choose from it makes my head spin!

Also, I need a region free player so I'm not limited to Region 1 discs like I am with my current player.

Is there a reasonably-priced machine someone can recommend that could combine both of these needs? Thank you in advance!

The reasonably-priced region-free DVD player question has rather been done to death here but I see that you are after an all-in-one player/recorder combo....

.... doubtless the experts will be able to chip in.

As a non-expert I'd be tempted to do one job on the computer and the other on a single-purpose machine. But that's just me.

Summary: no recommendations.
