THIS is why I buy most of my R2 stuff from Amazon.UK

foud this in my inbox this morning, note that this is some 2 weeks after release...

Thank you for your recent order for the DVD "Blakes 7 - Series 1".

At Amazon.co.uk we are always looking for ways to lower prices, and as part of this commitment we are pleased to let you know that we have lowered the price of the DVD "Blakes 7 - Series 1" from 34.03GBP to 28.93GBP --a further saving of 5.10GBP.

Because you purchased this DVD at the higher price, we have issued a refund of GBP 5.10 GBP for each copy you ordered. This refund will make up the difference between the amount you were charged and the current discounted price.

The refund should appear as a credit on your next credit-card billing statement.
can't beat that...

So far I have found Amazon UK to be the most effecient site possible - I've placed several orders with them, all shipped promptly (the last order was shipped about 12 hours after the order was placed!). They get a big from me!

Nice, I will have to make a note to place an order there sometime. I usually do most of my UK shopping at Bensons World or Choices Direct.

I use BLACKSTAR. They sent me a similar notice before they shipped Blakes 7. They always have the hard to find dvds I want and the service is superb.

They both call themselves Amazon, but for my money the UK one kills the US one in service and efficiency.

I use Bensons or Blackstar usually as well. Choices Direct is way to expensive on shipping if you ask me.

I use Bensons - I got turned off by BLackstar ages ago because their prices were far too high compared to everyone else. Maybe things have changed.

Maybe something has changed, but, when I ordered my Roman Polanski collection from them, it was over $10 cheaper than anywhere else. That was after shipping prices.

Although Choices has high shipping if you're only ordering one thing, they are a good place to order if you're placing an order for several items, since their shipping fee is a [b]flat rate[/i] of five pounds worldwide. Order five videos or DVDs, then postage is a quid per title. Order 10, only 50p per title (versus 1.25 per disc over at Bensons).

If you have some stuff you want to pre-order along with in-stock titles, Choices is an excellent way to go.

It always pays to shop around, though. HMV are good to use sometimes as they do not charge VAT on non-EU orders (it gets deducted during the checkout process).

Amazon.co.uk is a great site with much better customer service than the US counterpart. I once bought a TV season box set from them, then a week after I had it found out there'd been a 15% off code for that set floating around for about a month. I sent them an email on the off chance they'd give me a refund, and they did! I don't know of any other store that would do that.

Amazon uk also deducts the VAT for non-EU orders, but I don't believe tha Blackstar, Benson's. HKL or any of the other places do.

Blackstar doesn't charge VAT on orders to the US. As for Amazon.uk I think their prices and service is quite good.
They even honor mispriced DVDs. Once, I placed a pre-order
for the Battle Royale 2-disc tin set. It said 8.99 pounds; so I went
for it. They sent me an e-mail saying it was a price mistake and
will honor the 8.99 pounds price. Ended up paying only $18.50 US for the set including shipping.

I've been with amazon.co.uk for 3 years now. I think it is just the best British retailer found online.

Can't argue with that - I placed an order late Sunday evening, and I had the DVDs here in New York 63 hours later!

both amazon.co.uk and blackstar.co.uk are perfect. But packaging method of amazon.co.uk is better than blackstar. Also as it was mentioned before they ship the package quickly (quicker than amazon.com)

I just ordered from them based on this thread, I'm in NY maybe i will have it 63 hours later too! TV boxsets cost a lot more in the UK but its worth having Buffy and angel six months early

I ordered Angel season 4 last Saturday, and I'm now watching it one week later, it may have even been delivered Friday. Awesome service from Amazon.co.uk. The packaging is so much better in the U.K
