Jeux d'enfants (Love Me If You Dare)- Aprli 20

Jeux d'enfants (Love Me If You Dare) has been set for a release- April 20. This little gem has generated a lot of good reviews in Europe. People seem to compare it to Amelie in terms of camera work and plot progression. I love those little romantic stories that develop into beautiful relationships so I will definitely be buying this. In addition, it has one of my favorite French actors G. Cannet (La Fidelite) so this is an easy decision.

If you have not heard anything about the film yet here's the trailer (click on bande-announce...bottom right):

hopefully it will be released with subs soon. I have had a crush on Marion Cotillard since I saw Taxi and would love to check out this movie.

who?? MiramAxe...it would rather be a cold day in hell. As you know TAXI, such a major hit in Europe (and everywhere ELSE in the world was not even released in the States)....the Canadian hacked-up, mess-of-a-job does not count!
They did not consider....not attempt....consider....Dobermann for a release....I wont even bother with these bigots....i

If the British fumble and pull out some sort of a trick and release it....maybe...but an R1 release...Nope!

What a week.... First Jean Reno's new film comes out without subs,

then Sophie's film gets the shaft

then Autieuil's Red Dragon gets slammed

...and of course because I REALLY wanted to have this film, IT HAD TO COME WITHOUT SUBS!!

Just, great....I might as well go rent Gigli and finish my night off. That would be a capper for sure!!

All those movies look great, I will have to keep an eye out for a version somewhere with subs, I dont care what region or if it is Pal or NTSC as long as it has subs. I have been watching more Korean and Japanese movies and have fallen behind on what french movies have come out recently. I cant stand all these great French movies coming out without subs.

Also I got Taxi a long time ago at a convention and did not realize it was a bootleg, is there any decent uncut version with subs in any region that is not a bootleg. I would get the Korean but the small scene they cut out annoys me.

bluntman72-

if you are looking for a good anamorphic transfer of Taxi with subs, which also happens to be uncut....look no further...such does not exist. Even the british subbed version is not perfect.

You could get some of the Asian uncut versions but they are not anamorphic....

Cheers mate,

Which version is the best right now out of the available uncut ones. I just want to have a non bootleg version, and will buy a better version if one ever comes out.

Giles,

This is certainly news to me....rather good one.
Better late than never, though I have to admit that whoever is in charge with Paramount Classics European distribution clearly has no vision and a proper timeframe concept (I refer to La Finestra Di Fronte as well)...I dont understand how could you avoid a film at the peak of its potential (buzz) so to speak. This is clearly not an issue of money, etc.

Regardless.....good news! though needless to say when this disc shows up it will be most certainly bare bones.

looks like a good flick... someone bump this thread when a dvd with subs comes for these films. Also - you guys can check online for subs to these Dvds. Resurrection of the Little Match Girl has subs online somewhere, but all the ones I've found suck.

Paramount Classic website denotes "Summer 2004"

the new Landmark Film Guide magazine states: "May 2004"

Just saw this film and have to say that, while very imaginatively shot and beautiful to look it, it's one of the most annoyingly pointless movies I've seen in some time. IMO.

I thought it was mean-spirited. The editing really annoying. The female lead terribly miscast. Sure it was unique, but ultimately dismissed as not 'great' cinema. I can't believe this was the "#1 Hit in France" as the trailers proclaim or that the audience was fickle enough to hand this film the 'audience award' at last January's Palm Spring's International Film Festival - whatever.

a bit of useless info....

A Korean (in what appears to be direct port) release will be available without English subs. If anyone is still holding on seeing this one the upcoming R1 version should be the way to go...

Korean cover-

Agreed.

I'll go one step further: This is one of the worst films I've seen this year.
