Yeah, rape, air, same thing in this case.

But remember, the 9pm showing will be the only showing that is "commercial-free" (they might take a little break in half-way talking to some of the "cast members" similar to other MTV "originals"), all the other showings will be extended out into 2 hours.

so wait - they're gonna pause the film to talk to snoop dog and method man? Are you guys sure the voices are being dubbed by rappers? cuz the commercials I saw had what sounded like white kids doing the voiceover.

dang, mtv is the suck.

I might tape this though just so I can watch it later while spewing forth all manners of cursing, insults, and beratements in the mtv's direction.

Is "beratement" even a word? hehe

I'm 100% positive that rappers will be involved with the dubbing process, especially for most of the main characters anyway. I know the evil (was it vice?) principal will be voiced by Pat Morita.

So we got rappers and the owner of Arnold's doing the voices... great...

From All Hip Hop.com
South Korean Kung-Fu Flick "Volcano High" is being re-worked for hip-hop enthusiasts and will include the voices of Snoop Dogg, Andre 3000, and Method Man.

The rappers will replace the local dialect that was featured in the original 2001 version.

The movie centers on a character named Kim Kyung-soo, a new student at Volcano High. Soon after his arrival, he realizes that the school is sharply divided into rival factions of sport teams.

Furthermore, Kyung-soo demonstrates highly skilled martial arts abilities when pitted against the "master," who also happens to be the school librarian.

The movie features the same type of martial arts special effects that are featured in numerous Jet Li and Jackie Chan movies.

R&B divas Kelis and Mya will also lend their voices to the flick, which is slated for a December 21st release date.

Man, another sign of the Apocalypse.

I saw the commercial for this on MTV last night. I nearly wept.

Still, it can't be as bad as Kung Faux (not that I am condoning this at all, I am condemning it).

Maybe i missed the memo, but when exactly did it become "fashionable" to mix hip-hop and kung-fu?

Did't you know? All "action" movies must have either Hip-Hop or Heavy Metal music.

Kung cRap. At least it's airing commercial free and likely in widescreen, will be worth a laugh or two.

I really need an uncut version of the movie (I have the 90 minute cut )

These people have got the descriptions way off, this movie plays more like Dragobball Z than a typical Jet li/Chan film as the press release says.

Although I believe this is a new low, alot of martial arts themed asian films have been chopped up, rescored, redubbed and generically retitled since Chan started the new infusion a few years back.

Yeah, www.koreanfilm.org is a really great site for up-to-date korean film reviews -- nice archive system now. Darcy's the guy who runs the site and his wife handles www.yeondvd.com

The big signifigance here is that this will be most people's first exposure to Korean cinema.

Thing is most people (MTV viewers) will think it's a Japanese film unless they hear otherwise...
