El topo /Holy Mountain - italian or Japanese DVD's ?

thanks guys for helping me decide on purchasing the philips 727 dvd player. now i would like to dive into other region disks and i was wondering which one is better choice

the Italian

or the japanese

www.xploitedcinema.com/dvds/dvds.asp?title=1174

the price difference seems to be huge but i dont know why it is so !

Price difference is huge because Japanese releases are notoriously costly (but usually worth it).

As far as the Jodorowsky's go I believe (and hopefully someone else will confirm or deny this) that there is fogging on the Japanese releases.

The Japanese release I beleive is with English audio and the Italian is with Spanish audio (eng and ital subs).

My guess would be that the Japanese release is the better quality in audio and picture though.

I have yet to decide on which version of his films to get myself, so I am very interested to hear everyone else's thoughts on this too.

Correct! (I own the R2 Japanese Jodorowsky boxset)
From my understanding the Japanese DVD's do have the best PQ etc...but as i don't own the Italian releases i can't comment.

Here's a review of each movie and the accompanying DVD -- not sure I'd buy them - but they're good reviews:

El Topo: http://www.thegline.com/dvd-of-the-w...12-02-2002.htm

Holy Mountain: http://www.thegline.com/dvd-of-the-w...02-15-2003.htm

Well, there's no way that I'd buy El Topo from Japan. It's dubbed into English, while the Italian disc has the original Spanish audio track with optional English subtitles.
