push the Danish release, pro-bassonist, I think it is one of the best 2003 DVD's ... not forgetting the "no subs" option

Also, let's not forget that Lion's Gate doesn't exactly have the best reputation for quality DVDs:
Happiness (Signature Series? Looks more like 3rd gen VHS)
Irreversible (Features? Never mind what it says on the cover!)
Get the Danish one. Couldn't agree more with what everybody else has stated -- this is one top-notch fu*king DVD!

Question- What is the best all-region version of Dogville? It seems like the Korean version is the only all-region anamorphic disc.
The Danish disc is all region PAL.

I got the Danish release from Laserdisken today. Damn, this is a great DVD. The film is amazing. I only peeked at the extras but I can't wait to watch them all. I'm glad to see this great film got the DVD treatment it deserves.

According to a post over on the regional section of the HTF the French disc doesn't have enforced subtitles either but will be able to confirm in the next few days once i have received it.
Also in the aforementioned post there is a picture of a Korean LE which those of you with a collector type mentality may find interesting.

to those who are interested in the korean LE, here's the info i received from asiandb:
The Dogville DVD LE which will be released on 24th of December
comes with original poster, film stills and other extras.
They are packed in a package and the poster will be folded.
The shipping fee of one package is around $13 if it is to ship to the U.S.
If you want the poster not to be folded, please pay extra fee of around $10.
Thank you.

so you're looking at about $50 total (with poster folded) for this sucker...
this was the only website i could find that actually had the limited edition for sale. i've never ordered from this company...has anyone had experience with them?
oh, and here's the link to the Dogville LE they have listed:

I just ordered it too from DVDAsian...but I was just going over the description again and it states that the poster does not come with it. Anyone know what is up with that?

I just ordered the Korean edition Dogville DVD, but am now having second thoughts. Could it be that some footage of the film is censored on this version? And if this is indeed a PAL to NTSC transfer, is the picture quality horrible? I know this has just been released, but if someone has seen the Korean Dogville DVD could they please fill me in on the censorship and picture quality aspects of it?

a previous post mentioned there is only one scene with nudity (behind) shown.
oops, i'd completely forgotten about the PAL to NTSC situation...
by the way, if you had just placed the order with dvdasian and its processing, you can still cancel it via email. or you can return the item when you get it.
i think i may just cancel my order with them.

...as to the Pal/NTSC transfer....It is quite possible that this disc will be a direct port of an existing R2 transfer (which one I dont know) as there is no other NTSC version available at this point, and considering the existing practice of Korena companies "borrowing" R2 transfers -Nid De Guepes, and Blanche come to mind- (I am told that there is one in Portugal but have not been able to confirm).
...with all this said...I believe that it is fair to say that the R2 (Swedish) disc is still the one to own....(then again we do not know how close the French one comes.....)
so....take your chances...and spend your money wisely
bottow line- I usually tend to foollow the rule that best DVD versions usually come from the film's country of origin (in this case I would say region-Scandinavia).
