Spanish Filmax ed. Europa...2:35:1?

Can anyone provide some aspect ratio info for the Spanish Filmax edition of Von Trier's "Europa" [Zentropa]? All I know for sure is that the presentation is letterboxed, and I don't want to run into problems similar to those on the Tartan edition (1:78, then blown up to fit widescreen TVs).

Thanks for your help.

...well... ummm... the back cover of the disc only says "Letterbox", no AR given (and nor is it an anamorphic transfer, apparently)...

. . . . . .

It's 2.35:1 or very close to it. And it is indeed nonanamorphic.

Be very careful about that company's DVDs as the discs I've seen have been VHS quality.

Really? The picture and sound quality on this disc were fine, so far as I'm concerned . I just wasn't certain about the aspect ratio.

What's wrong with the tartan edition? It's anamorphic and looked great on my 57".

Nevermind, duh, it's only 1:78 instead of 2:35. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

From a review posted on Amazon.uk:

"...while the feature is anamorphic widescreen, it has been zoomed from the film's original aspect ratio of 2.35:1 to approx 1.78:1, presumably to neatly fit widescreen TVs. This makes nonsense of many of von Trier's beautifully-composed widescreen images, with so much information missing from either side of the frame. Ironically, the included theatrical trailer is in anamorphic 2.35:1...why? To show us what we're missing in the main feature? The point is rammed home when the image flattens out to 2.35:1 at the end of the film to accommodate the end credits... There also appear to be one or two instances of monochrome being substituted for a splash of von Trier colour, e.g. in one shot in the Ravenstein scene."

For what it's worth...
