Megastar in HK just released Ken Park in Anamorphic NTSC and R3. It might turn out to be R0 for all we know. Here's a link http://www.asiandvdguide.com [scroll down].

Heliosphann 09-19-03 08:26 PM

Is the Megastar uncut though...

Moon33 09-20-03 03:24 AM

Megastar version is cut.

Walter Sobchak 09-20-03 03:47 AM

Don't go near the Region 3.

The Russian disc has an excellent transfer.

Best film I've seen all year.

lcnickell 09-22-03 10:33 PM

are you sure R3 is cut, lists time as 97 minutes, think that's longer than the R5 version

JonTurner 09-22-03 11:21 PM

Thanks for the info - it's a high price, but I ordered mine from xploitedcinema (hadn't heard of them before) last night. I figure if I don't want to keep it after watching it, I can find somewhere to sell it ;)

A)Think about PAL speedup
B)Remember the asian practice of optically fogging films to obscure naughty bits.

litza 10-04-03 05:05 PM

The Asian practice of opitcally fogging films is usually only for Japanese releases.

Then again. The Hong Kong version of ICHI was butchered.

The question still remains, does anyone really know if the Hong Kong version is cut or uncut? Or is everyone just guessing and/or going on second and third hand information?

Poker Industries has this disclaimer regarding the Megastar version:

Film notes: Though the cover contains a sticker that proclaims that this release is “Un-cut”, it has been optically censored in areas to maintain this claim. We cannot accept returns based on the fact that the film has been optically censored.

I'll stay away from it. The Russian disc looks like a winner.

Well, this really sucks beyond belief because I ordered the Korean from CD-Wow the other day. It looks possible I may have been able to cancel before it ships. I sent three different e-mails to them in the hopes I can intercept. Anyway, uncut should be uncut and uncensored. Uncensored should be implied. Very shady on the part of Megastar.

Electric2k 10-05-03 12:39 PM

I ordered the PAL Russian DVD, and it should be here Monday. I'll give my impressions when it gets here...

I'm gonna wait and see what you think before I order it since that is a little pricey for me without any reviews.

Does anyone know about the Swedish Sandrews Metronome vs. the Russian? Also, from the xploitedcinema site, it looks like the Russian one is in one of those horrible DVD box size jewel cases. Is that right? Thanks.

FaustBos 02-27-04 07:47 PM

This is released in zone2 market.

You can find it at www.dvdstrax.com

pro-bassoonist 02-27-04 08:50 PM

That's correct.

pro-bassoonist 03-01-04 10:51 PM

there is also a Spanish version of Ken Park....to answer to the person(s) that asked about it.....

here's the cover work:

cultshock 03-01-04 11:13 PM

Sure, US releases are given crappy covers showing floating heads, while Spain gets covers showing someone giving head. Thats fair!

Trigger 03-01-04 11:22 PM

LARRY64 03-01-04 11:52 PM

Where can I get the Italian version?

pro-bassoonist 03-02-04 12:05 AM

Larry64 my friend :) it says right there on the cover- DVD.IT.COM

Cheers mate,

Pro-B

duofold 03-02-04 03:37 AM

Pro-bassoonist...thanks for your help and introducing us to different versions. Could you say what you believe is the definitive version of this film (uncut, image/sound quality)?

If the Spanish version, where can this be found?

Merdalf 03-02-04 04:36 AM

DVDgo.com has it!

mrwilson 03-02-04 08:15 AM

Thats great! Buena Vista (Disney) distributes Ken Park in Spain!

Merdalf, I'd have to say the Russian one is. Great looking 16:9 picture and English 5.1 sound. It's a couple bucks cheaper than the Spanish one too.
