Interesting. Says it‘s out already. Anyone have it?

Miramax 08-21-03 12:22 AM

I received the DVD last Week from Koreandvds.

I don`t know how Warner Korea did that, but the Korean SE is exactly what should have been released this Year from Warner USA.

But Warner USA said, that the DVD will be delayed because the Extras are not ready yet.

Is Warner USA telling the Truth?

For my Part, i don`t think so.

So go ahead and buy the Iron Giant SE with this tiny little Plastic Iron Giant for the sensational Price of 15US$.

cool, thanks for the confirmation. one question...are the supplements and commentary in english? if not, are they at least subtitled.

oh, and from what i read, the delay was supposedly so it could be released around the same time the director brad bird's new film the incredibles comes out in the fall.

Miramax 08-21-03 12:50 AM

Hi,

the DVD is completely in English. Of course the only Asian Supplements are some Asian Subtitles.

The Overview on the Backside of the Cover is in Korean. I already uploaded the Cover to the IVS DVDProfiler last week, but it`s not been updated yet.

Is this available anywhere else? KoreanDVDs crappy system keeps declining my card.

I just ordered one and they've since posted a notice regarding the card acceptance situation.

to make a long story short, they said it's a quirk in the system but to check back in a couple of hours if you have been having problems and try again.

I purchased it fine this morning with no problems.

The cheapest shipping option I could find was 11 bucks and change. That's almost the price of the DVD itself. At that cost, I think I'll hold off for the R1 version.

Miramax 08-22-03 12:16 AM

The Shipping Amount is too high for only one DVD.

You should try out how much DVD`s you can get for the shipping Amount of 11$.

There are many Discount-Titles like Shiri, Malena, Gun`s n Talks, 2009 Lost Memories that would be worth it to buy.

The Option "Shipped as Document", which is much cheaper, is not available for residents of the USA.

Miramax

Is it anamorphic widescreen - tempted to get this!

Thanks

Is the site secure

I got to the Credit Card entry and never saw the padlock on my browser bar. I would expect encryption for cc transmition.

Miramax 08-22-03 02:15 PM

@blenky

for sure! It`s Anamorphic Widescreen.

The Aspect Ratio is: 2.35:1

Thanks Miramax

It seems quite a few R1 sites have the SE listed to be released on 26th August. Is this correct? If so I may have to quickly cancel the Korean one!

Jay G. 08-22-03 06:18 PM

The Iron Giant SE used to be scheduled for release on Aug. 26th, but it's been delayed. from the digitalbits:
http://www.thedigitalbits.com/rumormill.html#0604

Also today, we've got a pretty good idea now why Warner Bros. has delayed The Iron Giant: Special Edition, which had been slated for release on 8/26, until 2004. Pixar's The Incredibles anyone? Here's a link to a streaming preview trailer for the film, which is currently running in theaters attached to Finding Nemo. It's written and directed by Brad Bird, who (not coincidentally) directed The Iron Giant. So Warner is likely planning to tie into that theatrical release with its DVD. The shame of it is, The Iron Giant: Special Edition has been done for over a year now. Hey Warner... maybe we'll get a 2-disc set for waiting so long? Hint, hint...

BobSolo 08-27-03 11:36 AM

Anyone know what the special features are?

sunny crockett 08-27-03 12:08 PM

dvdboxoffice has a 2-disc SE listed as a new arrival.. seems available to buy... out after all?

RichDB10 08-27-03 12:21 PM

Apparantly Koreandvds.com have completely sold out of this.

sotie 08-27-03 12:30 PM

I just purchased from Amazon.ca yesterday.

It’s only the version with the robot that’s limited. I’m sure once they get around to it it’ll be re-listed sans toy.

Josh Z 08-27-03 06:56 PM

Dammit, I was just about to order the one with the little robot!

buckee1 08-27-03 08:58 PM

Mine arrived today from koreandvds.com. Not bad turnaround time from Korea!

P.s. That little robot toy is kinda cute too.

Josh Z 08-28-03 01:30 PM

Anwhere else still carrying the edition with the robot toy? I seriously doubt such a thing will be included with the R1 edition, whenever that should materialize.

It may be.

The robot toy in the pictures I've seen looks quite similar to the toy packaged with the U.S. VHS original release.

jonathan.e 08-28-03 05:52 PM

Anyone received from Amazon.ca yet?

I think there was a robot toy with a special edition VHS in the UK as well.
