Santa Sangre - UK R2 release date finally!

Noticed that the Anchor Bay UK release of 'Santa Sangre' has finally been scheduled for an October 27th release....and i believe it's been passed totally uncut by the BBFC.
Can't say i'm too fond of the cover art though!

The BBFC's website denotes that no cuts were made to receive an 18 rating. It's kind of surprising since the stabbing of the prostitute is ultra viscious and excedingly gory. If you ever have seen the US R-rated theatrical version and compare it to the NC-17 rated cut, it's amazing that the whole entire scene is missing.
Spoiler:
The door swings open, the machette flys at her body, the scene ends. In the uncut version, the scene continues for nearly a minute longer with copious amounts of blood literally painting the room red as the stabbing intensifies

Release date delayed until January 2004 due to the transfer taking longer than initially hoped.....good to know that AB UK aren't rushing this release and if it's up to the usual standards lately of their Polanksi and by all accounts the features in the Amicus boxset then we are really in for a treat.

Hey Rich you denoted in your posting in "What Are You Watching This Week" that you did watch the R2 edition of "Santa Sangre", right? So, is the DVD culled from an uncensored print of the film?

I've got the R2 Japanese Jodorowsky boxset and i was referring to the feature in there.

Unfortunately the Japanese edition is digitally blurred to remove nude scenes etc....but typically they have no problems with violence so you still see everything else..ie....hens pecking at severed limbs etc..

so what's the deal on who owns the rights to this in the states? any guess? Is Anchor Bay - US planning on releasing this? The R2 looks too good not to miss up on purchasing the disc.
