Samsung DVDS221

I've been offered a Samsung DVDS221 player at a great price. Does anyone know if it can handle multi-region DVD's? Is there a way to play other regions? If not, I'll pass, no matter how great the price! Cheers.

According to this site, the answer is "YES":

Don't know if the PAL to NTSC conversion is handled properly however.

Thanks so much for the response. I did check out the link. Sorry to be so dumb, but I'm a real neophyte with the whole DVD thing, but does this mean I'd have to have an AIWA remote to operate the Samsung player? If so, are those sold separately? Cheers, John

It looks like you would only need the AIWA remote to unlock the region settings. After that, you could use the SAMSUNG remote as usual.

You can order AIWA remotes from this site http://www.replacementremotes.com/aiwa

I see a few there that have the "clock" button, such as the RC-T516.

If you have a universal remote, you could always try entering a device code from the manual for an AIWA receiver, then try all of the buttons until you get a response. You might get lucky and discover the "clock" button that way. Just a thought. Otherwise that site seems a safe bet for obtaining a remote.
