damn here's my dilema
I got the R3 set from CDWOW and watched the movie on monday everything played fine no skips at all but last night when I tried to play the bonus disc it won't play at all, it's just stuck on the copyright screen and will not advance so should I consider exchanging this for another copy? I mean I could get a copy where the actual movie is screwed up which is much worse anyone tried getting a refund from CDWOW? |
CD-Wow has the best price delivered (from what I can find), but with the problems I've been on the fence about buying this from them. I just checked their site and they don't list it anymore. Perhaps they decided to dump the whole batch. Either way, you should definitely contact them and see what the story is. For what it's worth, they are VERY responsive. So at least you have that in your favor.

yeah I'm gonna try to get a refund and get this one instead
hopefully a much better quality transfer too http://www.koreandvds.com/dvddetail.html?id=11506 |
I just noticed that this title reappeared on cd-wow's website. This time there's a note at the bottom that says "Hong Kong pressing, all playback issues have been resolved." So I went ahead and ordered it via the Mastercard link. It still shows region 3, but I'm hoping that it really is region free, like many other DVD's designated as region 3.
Their WorldPay payment process is still buggy though. I've placed four orders and on each order I had to follow up with an e-mail to customer service before they would actually process the order. Otherwise, customer service has been prompt, courteous and helpful. |
Has Edko ever have region-mistakes before? I know Universe does all the time and Panorama has also.

CDwow is indeed stocking the Edko disc. It's definitely R3 so you may wish to cancel that order. The three mainland (regular, dts, and boxset with dts version inside) releases are region 0, so those are an option. Both are carried at monkeypeaches.com (fan site that sells discs as a side business). Most US retailers aren't able to sell the title online, so you'll have to find a mainland retailer or resort to ebay.
And yes, it will be my New Year's resolution to stop getting so many discs! |

I bought my HERO 2-disc Region 3 (Edko) from CD-WOW. I īve had 2 faulty titles replaced. After wich I naturally cantacted them again!! CD-WOW replied that they wonīt send anymore replacements other than a full refund. If I, however, would like to get HERO again, I would have to order it again using their E-vocher, which they will mail me covering the full refund.
My question to everyone: Is the HERO Region 3 CD-WOW are selling from a new pressing? And has anyone experienced any problems with this Hong Kong version? I`m asking because CD-WOW has made a note at the botttom at the webpage of HERO that all playback issues has been resolved. Any posts in this matter would be appreciated. |
i ordered my copy from cd-wow few days ago, I can let you know if I encounter any problems with it when I get it, should noone reply by then

The reply was, and I quote: "The information I (CDWOW) have received from our DVD Buyer is that the issue has been resolved, as it was customers DVD players rather than the discs themselves. it may be worth checking on the forum you detailed earlier (this thread) if your player could be the problem." I have a Denver-311, and I have only experienced a couple errors on this player out of my collection of 300+ titles. Could my player really have something to do with it? I found it very odd that so may, who have bought HERO from CD-WOW, experiencing the same problem. |
same reply as syphon00 got - a dozen posts up in this thread - looks like blaming the players instead of admiting to a faulty pressing :D

Could anyone with these HERO DVD's from CD-WOW tell me if their copies have a sort of scratch/mark on the inner ring of the DVD's? I got my copy from them on the day the DVD came out and is an original.
The Returner, Hard Boiled and Phone discs from CD-WOW seem to be boots I think. (If you bought one of these titles when CD-WOW first put them up then you most likely got a legit copy) These seem to be made by someone else. I emailed them about it a while ago and had no reply. Another tale tell sign is that these discs seem to have some sort of mark/scratch on the inner ring and have no inner ring codes that the companies use. For example Returner would have something like DTS6398. Originally posted by Bleddyn Williams This copy is obviously different from my CD Wow copies - on the front cover, bottom left, there is a notice actually printed on the artwork, proclaiming 2003 DVD-VIDEO EXCELLENCE AWARD. Also the case is a standard two-disc case, with a flap inside for disc 2. All my CD wow copies had a disc inside each side of the case, with the insert stuck in two central plastic "clips." He is what to look out for on some CD-WOW HK DVD's. Returner. Case is not the usual Universe case and the disc doesn't fit in the disc hub and has an AC3 logo in the inside of the case. Disc has scratch/mark on inner ring. Phone. Disc has Scratch/Mark on inner ring and you may experience problems near the layer change as I did. Tried 2 copies on my Toshiba 330e and Philips 711 and both skipped or stopped near the layer change. Hard Boiled. The slipcase is very badly printed and the keepcase is black when it should be a clear case (As the cover is double sided). The disc has no Mei Ah codes on the inner ring and again has the scratch/mark on the inner ring. Thankfully my copies are originals. I hope this helps. :) Hunter. :) |
FYI, the first pressing of the HK release of Returner was R0. All subsequent pressings have been R3.
The Hard Boiled cover does look home made. I got one copy from DDDHouse and another from DVDShelf. They both look the same. |
The Hard-Boiled Slipcase does look cheesy. However, it is correct that -at least- the first pressing of the remastered version from Mei-Ah -are- CLEAR CASES.
