Its like the Holy Grail for fans of the movie, I think its weird this "phantom" cut hasnt been covered anywhere.

The Hero EVD is the 2-hour version. The problem with buying the player is that it might not have the same voltage as in the US. I'm not sure what current China uses, but it may be different. It's not too hard to fix that, some sort of adapter can be bought. Another problem is that the socket is probably different from other places. That's probably a bit harder to fix, especially if you live in the US.

Last I read about the DVD is that it was almost ready to go, although that was a few months ago...

Compatible, according to specs at hivizone:
110-230V, 50/60Hz

hivizone

I just got the 98 minute version of this from dvdasian and loved it. I would be really interested to see the new cut.

Oh, okay, but the link doesn't work. :)

Fixed the second link, or else go to hivizone and click on dvd players.

Probably because it doesn't have English subs.

The Shinco player is compatible with US voltage. You will have to replace the power cord with a US plug, but I hear it's a fairly standard cord you can buy at Radio Shack (apparently an X-Box power cord is also compatible).

From reading multiple threads for various movies, a lack of English subs doesnt seem like a deterring factor for everyone.

pat00139 05-05-04 08:26 AM

Yeah, I've spent an inordinate amount of money on DVDs that are in languages I don't understand without any subs I do understand. Hey, if I wanna see the movie, I wanna see the movie. Hero would be one of those movies, especially the 2-hour version.

Oh, and thanks for the Shinco info. Not that I'd buy the player, but it's nice to know.

^^ Very, Very interesting.

Anyone have any info on it?

harosa 06-08-04 10:38 PM

Nothing there saying this is the "supposed " director's cut everyone has been "dying" to see.

True....but I still went ahead and pre-ordered it regardless.

They list the run time as 370 minutes. Is that just the movie itself, or inluding all the features/extras found on all 3 discs?

pat00139 06-09-04 01:36 AM

It's still the 98-minute version, just with more extras, which haven't been announced. It wouldn't surprise me if they included Cause, the making-of doc.

yeah, without English subtitles.

candyrocket786 06-09-04 08:12 AM

Well looks like Koreandvds raised the price $2 and fixed the running time.
