Good Place to buy Region Free Player?

Where is a good store to get a region free player? I have heard that Best Buy has a Cyberhome that plays region free, but I wasn't able to find it on their site. Do they still carry it in the store, but just not listed on their site? Besides the Cyberhome, what other players are sold in stores that plays region free?

The Cyberhome CH-500 should still be in stores. It's not automatically region-free - like the APex, it needs a hack. But the Cyberhome does not distor or elongate the picture on foreign DVDs, which makes it so popular.

That's a cheap one. Me, I use a $250 Malata. Automatically plays any region, with a ton of useful features.

220-electronics is advertising a JVC-500, modified to be region free at $175 - Good price for a JVC, but I have no experience with 220-electronics.

http://www.220-electronics.com/

I bought a cyberhome 500 from newegg.com. They have it for $75 + $10 shipping.

Got my jvc-602 at jvbdigital.com (does PAL to NTSC conversion perfectly).

I recommend picking up one of the JVCs, but the Cyberhome is pretty damn good too for the price.

The Norcent is available on Amazon for $50. That does PAL to NTSC well.

Keep in mind that not all modded JVCs are the same. 220electronics uses a cheaper mod that doesn't permit manual switching of regions. Also the cheaper mod is not compatible with the latest JVC firmware. Our JVCs use a higher quality mod and ship with the latest JVC firmware update preinstalled.

Regards,
Jeff

Keep the fans running the Malata 520 has a habit of doing a melt down, which you need to ship to the repair shop or SARS infected China! My Region free player doesn't have a 'fan' its 'cool' like me. LOL
