All I want to know is if there is a widescreen, uncut version out there.
And to the best of my knowledge, there's not... and thus I've still not seen this film

OK - some help from Down Under:
Here's a review of the disc which indicates that the transfer is indeed 16:9 widescreen:
http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Reviews...?ReviewID=2003
The running time is listed in this review as 82mins and 39 sec. The British Board of Film Classification database shows the R2 version to run for 81 mins. and 9 sec. after a total of 1 min and 28 sec. were removed so at the very least the Australian version does not appear to the same as the cut UK version.
Hope this helps.

Michael...THANK YOU SO MUCH. I will do some more research to see what is the orginal cut of the movie and then will decide whether to pick it up or not. Sounds good so far.
One more question, the review indicates that the DVD contains a trailer of the PIANO TEACHER which I assume is Isabelle Huppert's film. Is this available on DVD in R4 land, if yes where...is it the uncut British dvd version? I have never been able to locate it...any help will be appreciated. THANK YOU!!

I could be wrong here, but from what I know, I think the uncut Fat Girl is around 93 minutes... i.e. there's about 7 or 8 minutes cut. From the imdb: "93 min / Hong Kong:86 min / UK:86 min "
Then again, I REALLY don't know
The reason for the 1 - 2 minutes disparancy (?) may have to do with PAL speedup or something, or it may just be some other small cuts

No problem!
According to Michael D's site, THE PIANO TEACHER is tentatively due for release in Australia on July 9th but I don't think there has been any official release announcement as yet.
Pretty sure this will be the same as the UK version as the film was passed by our censor board here with no cuts
