Its coming on TV soon and wondering if it was any good. All I know it's Japanese and It a Serial Killer Movie.

When and which channel? Kairo (another Kiyoshi Kurosawa movie) is one of the scariest movies ive ever seen, and I really wanna see Cure and Kourei.
Is this only out on VCD or is there a English subbed release in any region? |

Originally posted by DaJosha When and which channel? Kairo (another Kiyoshi Kurosawa movie) is one of the scariest movies ive ever seen, and I really wanna see Cure and Kourei. To me, the following movies are comparable to Kairo in terms of pure horror: Ringu (the movie that got me into Asian horror and kept me there) The Eye (contrived, but there are several moments which will be etched in my mind forever) Hypnosis (the first half of this movie had be wondering what the hell all the hubbub was about....and then, *it* happens...not quite as abrupt a plot twist as Audition, but scary as hell...there's a series of "Gotchas" that end the movie which still send shivers down my spine) Uzumaki (there are certainly some stunning images here, but for me it was more about the subliminal....trying to figure out if the spirals I was seeing while watching the movie were my imagination or not freaked me out) Honarable mentions: Dark Water (everyone mentions the scene in the lift, which is spectacular, although overall I'm not a huge fan) Tell Me Something (I sure can't explain what exactly happened in the movie, but there are some crazy Brian DePalma moments of creepiness) St. John's Wort (yes the ending's goofy, but up to that point I was curled up like a frightened child) The Horror Game Movie (incredibly underrated....again, the climax is horrid, but there are some genuinely chilling moments throughout the movie (the scene with the young girl in the library really got me) and a memorable final shot) Back on topic, yes, Cure is a fantastic little serial killer tale. ;) |
