does HKL direct work?

I know HKL discs are legit. But I just tried to order from them directly to take advantage of their $9.99 sale.

When I checkout'd, i got a thank you, but no order # and no invoice to print. never got an e-mail. but my CC was charged. Sent them an email to them at the address specified on their website and it came back as "non-deliverable."

What is going on???

HKL

I ordered from the main website too back at the end of Feb. Same thing happened to me. I emailed their customer service twice and they told me that my order shipped on the 7th. I recieved the discs two days ago. Problem is that one of the discs had been opened and was no longer sealed. On top of that the disc had come loose and was all scratched up. They also sent everything in a padded bag instead of a box which offered very little protection. To top it all off I also ordered a HKL basebal cap and I still haven't recieved it.

I emailed them again about all this but still haven't heard back from them. Even though I'm loving the DVDs I'm still pretty pissed about all this and would rather not order directly from again despite their low prices.

I have the same story as yours. I ordered 4 DVDs on Feb 26th. They are shipped on Mar 6th after I contacted them couple times. They told me one of the item I ordered was out of stock, and they finally got a copy for me. I got my package yesterday, There's exactly one of them is not sealed, and Disc is scratched. It is "New Dragon Gate Inn". I emailed them and waiting for the reply.

I ordered 4 DVDs from them recently. It took about 3 weeks as some were out of stock, but I received them in 2 shipments, all sealed and brand new.

cinemaman 03-16-03 02:41 PM

which email did you use?

i keep getting "invalid e-mail @" for [email protected]. Which id are people using to communicate with them?

elias 03-17-03 07:06 AM

I ordered 8 or 9 dvds from them on 2/23/03 & received the first batch on 3/8/03 & the last two around 3/12/03. I didn't get a confirmation email or order number either, but you can check the website & it will show your order detail & status (although my status was "in process" forever). They were shipped in a bubble bag and 1 DVD (The Big Boss) was not sealed but in new condition. I don't think it is uncommon to receive unsealed dvds when ordering direct.

I have nothing but praise for HKL and would order again in a heartbeat!

more confusion

so I go to the HKL website, log in and all it says that I ordered the movie. no status or nothing..

Worse yet, I get an email from "Lynn" (another e-mail @ I saw on the Medusa site) and she says "sorry, we don't sell OUATIC. There must be a mistake."

Forgot I shouldn't have used the common acronym that most people are familiar with... sending her another note spelling out the acronym for her...

Elias, I honestly cannot see how anyone can have nothing for praise for ANY vendor that does not provide you with confirmation email or an order number. This is internet business 101.

Yeah, that's the one I've been using. Still haven't heard back from them about the HKL hat I ordered but still haven't recieved. You'd think they'd get their act together.

Oh well, I'll probably still end up ordering from them again. Their DVDs are too damn good!

Try [email protected], it does not bounce. Looks like you omitted the second "i" :) ...
I had a similar experience, though, mailed both this and the lynn@ address and did not hear from them since ... CC was billed.

That most likely means they shipped.

I got my DVDs in 2 weeks and they were all awsome. I didn't run around every day worrying about the lack of a confirmation email. It would have been nice but hell, the order was reflected on the website, so I know they received it, the status noting "in process" eventually disappeared, DVDs show up at my door. What can I say, I'm happy. I won't let the lack of an email stop me from ordering again.

update

well, got a couple of notes from Lynn at medusa. Claim they shipped the movie out on the 16th! Very impressive considering I only ordered this on the 14th! Apologized for the confusion due to the upgrade to the new system.

Elias - I don't run around every day worrying about my orders, because I know I have an e-mail confirmation with an order # that if I never receive it after a reasonable time, I can always follow up. This was my first experience with HKL as a merchant, and I expected at least from them what every other online merchant provides me. And where exactly did you see "in process" on your account? all i saw was the title of the DVD - nothing else.....where else should I look at? That would help a lot of I could at least see the status of my order online...Thanks..

I asked Lynn if they could seriously consider adding e-mail confirmation. Still think that is a reasonable think to ask.

If you checked your account page on the 15th it may have shown as in process. Your order sounds like it shipped rather quickly, so maybe it never reflected that status. On my order it showed "in process" for about a week before that designation disappeared. A week later the package arrived.

I ordered 6 DVD's and a T-shirt directly form HKL on 2/22/03. I received all of the DVD's over several days in 3 separate packages last week. The first package seemed to indicate that the T-shirt should be in it but it was not. I e-mailed sales at HKL and through the enquiries link on their web site about this. The e-mail I sent through enquiries came back as undeliverable (I did this through their link so it wasn't that I typed it wrong). I did get a message from Lynn saying that the T-shirts were shipped separately but didn't say if mine was on it's way or not. That was over a week ago and still no T-shirt. I hope to see it soon. I guess I'd order DVD's from them again but anything else is questionable.

Finally got a reply from Lynn. She apologized and said that she's been getting a ton of grief from people like us. She mentioned that the merchandise (my hat) is sent out seperately but didn't say anything about my specific order. I hope my second order goes smoother.
