Question...
I am looking through DVDs on DDDhouse.com....
next to some of the DVDs the rating says, lll Erotica (or something like that)
Is the "lll" HK for porn rating or something? Inquiring minds want to know.
By the way....I wont lie, I was thinking of buying one.

It's not "porn". More like something you'd see on Cinemax. Kind of equivalent to an NC-17 rating. But you won't see anything XXX.

Those aren't porn related and are some of the more well known CAT III's
I would most likely give CAT III a space between R and NC-17. But, who are we to catagorize the HK system.

Cat. III is not only for erotic movie (Definitely, no XXX for HK movies).
It also rated for violence & bloody movie (like Untold story). Even for movie with foul language. In fact, it is double standard. In US movies, you can always hear "fxxk". But if it is Chinese movie with such word in Chinese, it is probably given a rate of Cat III. No joking!
So, be careful when you choose Cat. III movie

on a related note, about 12 years ago there was an HK movie that came out called Cageman. It was rated as a Cat III not because of language or nudity, but because of the squalid and horrible conditions that the movie portrayed. As a side note, Cageman won the HKFA Best Movie for that year.
