Can you modify american PS2 to all region?
 

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I was out with some friends and they told me that the new Game Shark version 2.0 can help modify American PS2 to be all regions. Anyone know if this is true or if PS2 can be converted at all to all region?

Region X will remove region coding. It will not, however, solve the standards conversion problem related to PAL and NTSC...

...which of course makes it worthless as a region free player.

Gameshark also works to do it, I used it for a couple months while in between DVD players. Not completely worthless if you stick with Asian discs, but not exactly ideal either..

I use my PS2 as a codefree player and I don't have any problems.
But my TV is PAL/NTSC.

How do you use the gameshark to play non region 1 DVD's?

This worked for me:
1. Load the DVD into the PS2.
2. At the browser screen, select the CD icon the press and hold SQUARE then CIRCLE until the DVD menu appears, holding both buttons all of the time.
3. Either select the PLAY icon or the MOVIE START icon.

You still need a NTSC/PAL converter though...
