BFI Nosferatu
I know the Kino and BFI (R2) versions of Nosferatu are both supposed to be from the Bologna print. Can anyone tell me is there any reason to get one over the other? The reason I ask is that Benson's has the Eureka video 2-disc set on sale for about 8 pounds shipped.
I was thinking about ordering it or should I wait on the new Milestone version?

After doing some further research, it appears that the Eureka version is not the same as the BFI version.
Maybe I'll wait for the Milestone version.

If you haven't already seen it, check out this page:

Personally, I'm still trying to decide which version to buy. Does the Kino release have a better transfer than the BFI disc?

Hi there!
well, the so-called "Bologna version" - the italian "La Cineteca di Bologna" actually is the best movie restoration center in the world - is the best Nosferatu transfer: both the Kino and BFI DVD editions present the Bologna version, so you simply have to choice between NTSC and PAL. I own the Kino and I'm very satisfied.

Yes, but the image quality on the Kino release must be better than that on the Kino disc. Right?

Damn! I'm sorry. I wish I could say it was late and I'd been drinking, but I can because it's just not true. What I meant to ask, of course, was if the Kino disc has a better transfer than the BFI disc.
