AOTC Head Butt Scene Question R2
I saw that CDWow was offering an R2 version with the head butt scene intact. I was just curious why the UK board required that scene removed to secure the PG equivalent? I can't even recall what scene that was when I saw the film. Was it really that offensive?

The UK board always removed head-butt scenes from any movie when they appear.
Shooting a guy is a-okay though. |
That's not exactly true. Headbutts are OK, but they will almost certainly get the film an "18" rating. This, of course, did not sound like a good marketing decision to Fox.

A "12" (anyone over the age of 12) cert was offered to Fox but they chose to do the cut and get a PG. I don’t think they realised just how many Star Wars fans will now buy overseas versions of AOTC as a result of their decision.

What's the head butt scene? I don't get it. Was there a butt on someone's head? Why would that change the rating?
|
Why is the UK so against showing someone head butt someone? Are guns more acceptable?

The BBFC has a lot of quirky little rules like this. The other one that comes to mind involves nunchucks. The Hong Kong Legends Game of Death SE has a cover sticker which proudly declares "UNCUT! -- LEGENDARY NUNCHUKU SCENES RESTORED!", leaving American fans scratching their heads and saying, 'Gee, I saw that on tv when I was 11." Apparently the BBFC was saving a whole generation of young Brits from the deadly rice flail massacres these scenes would no doubt inspire.
