Xbox Playback - PAL Conversion?

I read that the Xbox will convert PAL -> NTSC DVD's and just wondering if that is 100% true? Im thinking of getting some Region 0 (All Region) DVD's but they are in PAL format and im wondering if I can just use the Xbox DVD kit to play them instead of my PC or spending lots of money on converters..

Sorry if this has been asked before , i can't seem to find any info on it and thanks for any help

I suggest getting HKL's "Purple Storm" and "Drive". Both are region 0 and they play quite nicely on my XBox.
