Why isn't Heaven's Gate on reg 2 ?

As far as I can tell it's Europeans who recognise that Cimino's Heaven's Gate is a superb movie. So why hasn't it appeared outside the US ? I'm sure lots of discerning euro and asian dvd collectors would like to add this one to their pile. The film is showing right now (00.53, 13/10) on UK's ITV in an almost comical pan & scan broadcast. So much of the picture is lost that they really should be prosecuted for showing it - one scene has Richard Masur talking to the tip of Kris Kristoferson's nose). There is a fairly decent region 1 dvd, much better than the botch job Deer Hunter: 10 at HMV, don't be tempted it's a terrible transfer !

Cimino isn't flawless: neither was Gance or Welles or Coppolla but he is in their league. And where is Year of the Dragon ?!

Heaven's Gate is available in region 4.

Best price I could find is here....

This is the full-length (229min) version and is anamorphic 2.35:1.

Looks like it's being discontinued so you might want to jump in quick
