Korean R3 (R0) Grand Illusion is Actually A Criterion Transfer.
Other Classic Criterions Available
M A Brief Encounter Variety Lights The Third Man Red Shoes Charade The Most Dangerous Game Bergman Films: The Magic Flute Wild Strawberries The Virgin Spring Cries and Whispers Box Set Only - The Seventh Seal and Autumn Sonata 8 Ruscico Classics These films are at least 5 squids cheaper some 10 squids than their western counterparts. This is ideal for me as I always wanted to see these old black and white classics but was hard for me to justify 20 - 25 squids on them. The fact that the Koreans can licence the film and flog it cheaper than criterion only proves that they have always been ripping us off! |

Further Digging has revealed more classics:
Smiles Of a Summer Night From the Life of the Marionettes Through A Glass Darkly Laurence Olivier Box Set Oliver Twist A Star is Born |
Uhhh...are some of these just transfers from the Criterion Laser Discs or are they NEW transfers made for DVDs? I'd guess they were the former since "Smiles Of A Summer Night" is not available on DVD yet. (Therefore the quality is probably lacking compared to a properly mastered DVD.)

smiles of a summer will be released on DVD soon ... that link takes you to a korean DVD pre order.
Theres no doubt that grand Illusion is a criterion transfer! |
