Shaolin Soccer OUT OF PRINT and CAN'T BE IMPORTED?!?!?!

Say it ain't so.

Can no-one save me from a cruel fate of watching Di$ney's cut-to-shreds, censored, dubbed release? HKFlix no longer carries it and is unable to sell it anyway due to Miramax's restrictions.

Aside from eBay, are there any online stores that might still have it? I've searched for one, using both "Shaolin Soccer" and the original title.

Well, if there's a good rlease of this film anywhere - get back to me, please.

I think the rate of $7.78HK to $1US is pretty constant. So yes, about 10 bucks. I'd recommend getting it as quick as you can before Di$ney pounces on dddhouse, though I don't know if they can, as dddhouse isn't based out of the US like pokerindustries and hkflix.

I don't think they can, aren't dddhouse/hivizone selling R0/HK versions of other movies "owned" by Disney now? I guess someone could try to make a case that importing them is illegal (isn't that a favorite tactic of TaiSeng on the movies they own the rights to) but I doubt anything will become of it (the FBI won't be busting down your door and confiscate all your imports).

There are plenty of copies in NYC chinatown... I got my copy a few months ago and just watched it again last week. Great film, the "extended" version is pretty disappointing tho with 2 deleted scenes (but the first is pretty funny) and 1 outakes at the end.

Worth every penny, and it is about $12 to $13.

I'd go for the DDDhouse if you want to save money otherwise the above link is to a U.S. retailer.

I ordered it from DVDshelf.com a few weeks ago and had no problem. But that was HK to Japan.
Before that I had to wait a bit because everyone had it listed as unavailable. I had read something about Disney stopping production but looks like this might be a small window of opportunity.

You realize that hating this movie is grounds for divorce?

I see some people selling DVD-9's on ebay and claiming that the "regular" release is a DVD-5 and of lesser quality. Can anyone confirm this?

Sure. I can confirm they are bootlegs. If there is a round sticker that has DVD-9 on it, it's a bootleggers signature.

When is Miramax actually releasing this? I saw the trailer at a screening of "Spy Kids 2" and was duly unimpressed with it for some strange reason. I am glad I really own the unaltered original DVD version.

I thought the Universe version was quite good, if a bit problematic with the subtitles. But the transfer is clear, and with a dts soundtrack, and extras, it's a good buy I think.
