World Cinema sale at Bensons

Hey I just noticed that Bensons Wrold has a world cinema sale going right now. All the titles are 11.99 and include the Tartan Bergman dvds, Ring series, Idiots, Code Unknown and quite a few others. Check it out at the link.

Sheet!, Sheet! another sale!!! are there any ones on that list that should be first choices? I seem some Artificial Eye releases there which I would go for since AE released them but I don't know anything about the films.

Is that a good version of "Dobermann"? Or is it cut?

thank you for posting this ! i was going to do it myself :)

it'd be great to know what titles on the sales list are worth getting.

This is a good deal for Lars Von Trier's "The Idiots." I actually bought that from Bensons a while back. It is the uncut version, opposed to the R0 version from Japan.

Anyone have feedback on these versions of Ring and Ring 0?

The ones on the list I think should be avoided or have releases in the US already. Dvds with * are best from the UK.
Audition - The German has the best picture and the US dvd has a lot of extras.
Battle Royale - The Tartan NTSC dvd or the upcoming directors cut special edition are probably both better than this. Also there is the upcoming Korean directors cut.
Place Vendome - Has a new anamorphic dvd in the US from Wellspring. I don't know what the quality is like, but the UK dvd seems like it's non anamorphic.
Time Regained - Has a US release, but neither the UK or US are anamorphic from what can tell. I don't know which has better video.
*Affliction - US dvd is non anamorphic and doesn't sound too hot in the image department. The UK dvd is anamorphic and is probably the way to go
*Code Unknown - US dvd is non anamorphic and no extras. The UK dvd has quite a few extras(27 min making of and other interviews) and is anamorphic
Cries and Whispers - Cirterion dvd is available from US and has some very good extras.
*Tetsuo 1 and 2 - I'm pretty sure I read on Asian Dvd Guide that these were better than the US releases from Manga, but don't hold me to it.
Wild Strawberries - Criterion avialbale in the US with great extras.
Terrorist - I don't know what is the best version.
*Freezer(Freeze Me) - I think the US dvd is supposed to be the best, but I can't rember for sure. I might have just heard about the US dvd compared to HK which is supposed to be a little soft.

Ichecked the BBFC site and it looks like it is uncut, but the dvd is supposed to be pretty bad. I still might pick it up though depending on how long the sale goes on for. I want to get Code Unknown, Ring 0, all the Bergman's except Cries and Whispers, Seventh Seal and Wild Strawberries, Beau Travail and maybe the Tetsuo dvds.
