HKL and bad discs

ok
im not mad
not at all
i love HKL and i appreciate their work

i have never had a bad dvd (maybe i dont have enough)
but i have had 2 and both were HKL discs. both towards the end of the movie (aarrgggghhh)
Drive
and
Black Sheep Affair
maybe its their way of telling to get better movies.
is there an issue i should know about?
is it all versions of these movies?
its too late for me to exchange them with bensonworld. ( i dont get a chance to watch movies right away so they sit)
will HKL exchange them because its a manufactors defect?

also, if someone has seen these 2 movies can you tell me how it ends? the last 20 minutes.
please end my suffering...

I have several HKL discs and not a problem, what exactly happens at the spot where it gets 'bad'?

Drive is a well known problem (I am still fighting mad at HKL for this one). Right at the layer change.

I've heard of other people with bad BlackSheep Affair Discs.

I think people complained about a few bad Project A's and 2001 discs.

I have Project A and Black Sheep Affair and mine are good. I don't have 2001 though.

About the endings:

Blacksheep Affair is pretty much 20 minutes of insane fighting, which makes the movie. Corrupt guy gets arrested at the end.

Drive - Well another 5 minutes of insane fighting. The movie pretty much ends a few minutes after your disc dies.

same issue
this totally blows. im going to have to start watch my hkl's right away then.

Axolotls, you remember my problems with Drive? I had the exact same problems with Drive and two or three different copies of Blacksheep Affair.

I used to own Blacksheep Affair, Drive, Project A, and 2001 - all HKL - and all played flawlessly on my Malata except for a bad layert change during Drive.

They have some serious quality control problems. Now that it's showing up in some Project A discs... it shows they really aren't paying too much attention....

After reading this thread I decided to watch my Drive DVD - the layer change seemed it took a while to complete (about a second or two) and the movie resumed as normal. Your mileage may of course vary. By the way, I got my disc at bensonsworld, and have a Malata N996 player, latest firmware if that helps.

i assumed bensonworld would not take my discs back. I had went to their site and looked up the return policy and im out of it by a few months. a friend suggested i email them anyway, and i did. they said yes. W00T!! I have to say this is the best example of customer service i have ever experience. it goes above and way beyond the norm. they even offered to exchange drive for another movie of my choice, because all copies are bad.
I'm writing them a thank-you letter, plus preparing a large HKL order.

a very happy happy happy squishable squidget
