Karloff Black Cat/The Raven?

Anyone know anything about the Australian R4 bargain DVD "Karloff Triple" containing the great old films The Black Cat and The Raven (and also The Mummy)? It seems at that price the quality must be pretty horrible, but I don't know for sure, not having heard a word about it. Anyone?

...ahh... I'd say you have already answered your own question...

...seriously, at that price, what would/could a person expect?...

. . . ;) . . .

Even cheaper at www.devoted.com.au - only $8! I’d love to get The Black Cat and I think I’ll risk adding it to my next order.

Be interested to hear from anyone who actually has this.

I must say I'm skeptical that it even exists. These movies are held tightly in copyright by Universal, and I've no doubt that applies to Australia just as much as the USA. So if anyone actually has a copy in their hands, please let us know!

I odered mine last week for around 14 USD shipped. I'll let you know how it looks when I get it.

Hmm.. someone there says it looks like they're sourced from the laserdiscs. Well, the Black Cat/Raven LD was time compressed to fit each movie on one side, so each one runs 60 minutes in NTSC. I think the movies should run 61 and 62 minutes. Should be fairly easy to tell (I assume the AU disc is PAL, but I know Australia's been force-fed NTSC discs lately too. If it's PAL the framerate conversion needs to be done to compare times).

My Karloff triple feature arrived on Saturday.

The image is kind of murky so I assume that they have been sourced from a laser disc. Oh well what do you want for less than 5 bucks.

The cover lists the features as THE BLACK CAT (1934), THE RAVEN (1963), AND THE MUMMY (1932).

As a matter of fact, it's not the 1963 Karloff-Price-Lorre RAVEN,
but the 1935 Karloff-Lugosi film.

But hey what do you want for less than five bucks :)
