thanks for the links Trigger, I did do a search but nothing came up, go figure

This film is a REAL mess. If you have ADD or a VERY VERY VERY VERY
short attention span, then you have found your Citizen Kane.
It has ENOUGH story lines for 3-4 movies shoved in a plot that hits the ground running saying WE HAVE SPECIAL EFFECTS.
I'm dead set against Disney doing one of their hack jobs on HK movies-but in the case of this film it may help.

When I had some friends over to watch ZU it turned into a MST3K love/hate fest.And yes, I was Torgo.

"The Legend of Poo" would have been a more appropriate title. :)

That's the original Zu Warriors that HKL is releasing. A much better movie than Legend of Zu, which was great looking and utterly devoid of anything meaningful or interesting in terms of story or character.

the original Zu: Warriors of the Magic Mountain came out almost 20 years ago. It is one of the great classic movies of HK cinema. The special effects of course don't compare with movies of today but still considered innovative back then.

The original Zu looks good for its time, but it doesn't look anywhere near as good as the new Zu. It's still a fun movie though, and a much better movie as well. Sorry if I was unclear. The new version, Legend of Zu, succeeds at creating an amazing fantasy world, but it is torpedoed by a script that makes no sense and characters that aren't even one-dimensional.

I'm one of the few who prefers LoZ. I saw it before I saw the first one and I enjoyed it. I agree that it's no masterpiece, and, as a Zhang Ziyi fan, I was disappointed that she was barely in it at all. However, it was enjoyable fun and the DTS track is rocking...

Then I saw Zu: Warriors of Magic Mountain, and I was frankly bored. The FX were laughable, the characters were silly, and, aside from a few laughs, it was pretty lame. I traded it away immediately.

I had little trouble understanding LoZ and I think the reason alot of ppl take a giant dump on it is it's too complex or far fetched for them

these ppl should try watching something like Ashes of Time and then come back and talk about confusing story :p

If you want to fully enjoy this movie just watch it purely for the fx the first time and then re-watch it to get a grasp on the story

Forget the story, don't try to understand the characters too much their basically 2-dimensional dressed up as something meaningful.

However, do enjoy the visuals WITH the music and it will come off as a "noisey" bladerunner.

I hated it at first but cecila cheung made me come back to it and now I love it.

I don't like Tsui Hark at all but at least the characters in the legend of Zu aren't idiotic and annoying like all the characters in his other movies.

The movie is a so so movie. Lots of special effect. Nice weapons. It is watchable. But overall, I am a bit disappointed.
