Usually Amazon will honor it if not too many people order it before they fix the price... also, even if they don't honor it - they will still sometimes honor it for a few people that got in early. I'm crossing my fingers. Uglyjay - welcome to the forum!

Is the SE region 2 or region O? NTSC or PAL?

Thanks in advance, Tony Block

All my Tartan releases are R0 (Ring Trilogy + Dead or Alive). I'd bet my third nut it's PAL (no reason for it not to be since it's coming out of the UK/Europe)

According to this site there will be a new Battle Roayle DVD from Tartan released on Sept. 29. This is supposed to be the new version with the additional footage.

Does anyone have more info on this?

Just make sure that your DVD player has Region 2 encoding and wiil play PAL format DVDs if you want the SE.

I already picked up the NTSC Reg 0 disc for $24.49 from amazon.co.uk. The transfer is 1.85:1 anamorphic and 5.1 DD audio. Very nice, IMO.

cheers, Tony Block

Info below about the SE taken from amazon.co.uk

Will this ever get a Region 1 release? This is the kids on the island killing each other movie, right?

There is an R0 release, so it would be playable on an R1 player.

Since it seems like this thread is about an R2 disc, moving to International Forum.

Good news. I asked amazon about the orders which were already placed. Here the answer:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I do apologise for any confusion caused by this issue.

I have looked into your order and can see the prices you have been charged for your order. If there is a price increase, please rest assured that because your order was placed before the pricing adjustment, the cost to you for these titles will not change.

We apologise sincerely if this was unclear or confusing to you when you placed your order and appreciate the time that you have taken to point this out to us.

I am considering buying the 2 Disc SE for $32, but it will be an expensive blind purchase. I am a huge horror fan ie: Evil Dead, Dead Alive, Prowler, etc. I prefer gore to scares. Does this film deliver? It seems some are saying it is tamer than it is hyped to be. The reason for my reluctance, is that I bought Ringu on a risk and was highly disappointed with it. I thought Audition was good, but overhyped. Without getting into a debate about Audition or Ringu, can you guys provide some insight into Battle Royale. How does it compare on the gore level? Not necessarily compared to Ringu or Audition, but to other well known gore-fests?

If you do a search on "royale" you will find a shedload of earlier threads; some short, some long e.g. http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=217583
[off-topic]]Deke, "e.g." translates as "for example" - and it was an example of a long royale thread, by the way - rather than "this is a link to exactly what you are looking for".

The suggestion was that you do a search for "royale": it looks to me that boc4ever did just that and bumped this old relevant thread and for which thoughtful action he wins my applause.[/off-topic]

It is nothing like Evil Dead, or Dead Alive. Not really a gory movie or a horror movie. If you want to check it out go for the cheap HK disc. If you like it then you can always upgrade.

I appreciate the advice. I decided to hold off completely for now, because I'd rather buy the 2 disc than a single disc if I'm going to take the plunge at all. I discovered my local video store (TLA) has a copy of the 5.1 NTSC single disc for rent. Unfortunately, some bozo has had the disc for several weeks, so I'll have to wait until they get it back.
