hell! No!!! the legendary dvd-rot is real...
 
...for 2 of my UK discs, La Fill Sur Le Pont and La Reine Margot. notably both distributed by Pathe.
the disc has some kind of foggy at the surface of the disc. they just won't load and the player keep rejecting.
these is one of my early purchase of R2 UK disc. anybody has same problem?

That fogginess sounds like some bad glue coming undone.

Cornfed, i don't know it's the glue or not but it's sticky.
can i return the disc (after 2 years of purchase and play fine)?

Contact the manufacturer. There should be a 1-800 number or something on the back of the case or in the insert.

But the fact that you say it's sticky sounds pretty weird. Did you try cleaning them? If so, try contacting the manufacturer.

a 1-800 number for a disc produced overseas, for an overseas market, and sold overseas?

You're asking me? Notice that my post says '1-800 number or something.' There's got to be a way to contact the manufacturer and whatever action you take, if they replace your copy you'll be better off than having to re-purchase the discs.

have these dvds been stored correctly and away from strong light?

sound like a problem with the manufacturing process. are all your other DVDs of similar age ok?

look for the distributors name and contact them. they may be able to tell you who to get in touch with. however, the fact that this DVD is an import may invalidate any responsibilty the manufacturor has to you. the people who sold this DVD to you may be liable as they were aware it was intended for use outside its region, so you may want to send a polite e-mail enquiring if they can help you at all.

in the long run it will probably you who will be out of pocket. just one of them things. it is unlikely to be the dreded "DVD rot", but keep an eye on your collection just to br sure.
