Tsui Hark, who also did the "Once Upon a Time in China" series, made the 1983 magical-warrior epic "Shu Shan," or "Zu Warriors." Now he's made it again, but with all the special effects that weren't available two decades ago. Starring Zhang Ziyi, who played the governor's surprising daughter in Ang Lee's "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." With Ekin Cheng, Louis Koo, Cecilia Cheung and Patrick Tan. In Cantonese, with English subtitles. August.

Was it a remake? I thought it was a sequel...

I don't think it's either - I think it's just different stories that happen at the same place. Zu Warriors of the Magic Mountain was really good... you ought to see it if you haven't. It's a shame that Legend of Zu lacked a stronger story.

if you go by the Chinese title of the movie, then Legend of Zu is the sequel to Zu Warriors.

Oh dear. It sounds like Disney hired Abercrombie and Fitch to do the English dub.

Well, that's disappointing... I'd like to point out though that most of Jackie CHan's dubbed films contain somewhat heavy asian accents. It's probably more acceptable because they used the original actors in most cases, but in Zu they probably used american actors to do wonkey asian accents. I hope Disney's empire crumbles.

You know, I'm starting to hope that Disney will just give up on Asian cinema alogether since they can't seem to come anywhere close to the standards the films/directors/actors deserve... :(
