Why does Region 2 get a better A.I. case than Region 1?

Region 1 has a Gladiator type case.
Region 2 has a Fight Club, Se7en, Unbreakable... etc case.

I'm jealous.

I'll take the plastic case over the paper fold-out case because plastic lasts longer than paper.

I don't like those paper fold-out cases either. They might look nice, but the good old Amaray is still the ultimate DVD packaging. They endure almost every possible scenario (very important if you have kids in the house...).

While the R2 case may be prettier, I prefer the "Gladiator-style" slim Amaray for 2-disc releases. Thin, sturdy, and looks good on the shelf.

But our Se7en 2-disc edition is just an Amaray case. Not that cardboard-slipcase-whatchamacallit type of thingie. But that A.I looks damned sweet (the grafical design, not the case material itself).

Same here. I just think the Fight Club style of packaging does not hold up well over time, especially when it's handled often.

I prefer the hard shell type case over this.

Just curious, is there a full screen release on R2? I can't see anything on the case saying it's fullscreen or widescreen like the
R1. Not to change the subject, but is releasing movies on two formats a R1 only thing?

The answer is simply this :

A.I. is distributed by Dreamworks in the U.S. (who support Amaray) and Warner Bros. here in the U.K. (who support the dreaded snapper cases). Putting a 2-disc set in a snapper case is more problematic than for plastic Amaray, hence the fold-out digipack. And to the poster above, no there is no full-screen version of A.I. in Britain - but frankly why would you want one?

CKMorpheus, Geofferson:
Maybe your Amaray case can find the Blue Fairy to turn it into a fold out and then you will love it.

No love lost here. I prefer plastic keep cases over any type of special packaging.

I'll take a keepcase (ANY keepcase) over a digipack release any day.

But, yeah, digipacks usually look cooler.

R4 also has the same case as the R2 , but both R2/R4 missed out on the dts soundtrack

Since different cases have been brought up on this thread, i've been wondering what people thought of the Sopranos Seasons 1&2 cases. Kinda off the subject but i didn't want to start a a new thread since it had the somewhat of the same subject.

I think those two cases are class act, the little ribbon adds a touch of elegence. Although I do have a problem with the edges fraying out and the sticky backside getting jamed up when i take it of the self.

Anyway I am waiting for an ultimate edition to be released. I am really patient and I am nearly sure that there will be an ultimate edition including all the unincluded material in the DVD. So I don't care about the current packaging.

For 1 reason, in Region 2, it is a Warner disc, and they do not beleive in Amaray Case(plastic), thay always gor for the Snappers. But htis i a 2 disc set, so they go with the boxe, like with Harry Potter

Amen!

The fight-club style cases look cool but after a while that paper starts to break down. I've grown fond of the standard amaray packaging. It lasts long, it's cheap and easy to replace, and fits with everything else on the shelf.

I'm happy with the R1 case. My kid would probably just tear the R2 case apart.

Wow. The R2 looks so sweet... but if I have to choose, I'd buy the R1 DVD.

R2 is aesthetically pleasing, but for all practical purposes it isn't as good as Amaray cases. They hold up much better and the size makes DVD display look better next to the rest of my collection. I don't like when there are size differentials in the cases (ie snappers and foldouts).
