Scene access Mulholland Drive (Canada)

Seems there is no scene access in this DVD --- not even fast forwarding, scene skipping, etc. Am I missing something?

Hendrik 04-22-02 02:10 PM

...apparently that's what the director wanted...

. . . :o . . .

MrN 04-22-02 02:26 PM

You can't fast-forward? Are you sure? Do you at least get a timecode so you can jump forward?

No Scene access on mulholland

if that's what the director wants, so be it!

I was afraid I had ... I can't say it ... gone stupid. That would have been hard on my self-esteem.

Any other problems with this DVD?

From what you can read at DVDJournal.com(http://www.dvdjournal.com/ - scroll down to April 17/18), one scene has been rather clumsily edited to remove some nudity for the US (=N. American?) rental DVD ... allegedly as per the director's request. How does the Canadian DVD compare?
Now I am not keen on as much nudity as possible, but I find it rather annoying to get something else than what I saw in the theater ... as one comment over at the DVDJournal said, better to omit such scenes altogether than modify the movie for its DVD release.

This topic has been extensively covered in several very long threads in the DVD Talk forum. In short, the "editing" (a discrete optical blur hidden by a shadow) is not clumsy unless you freeze-frame on a particular 1.5 second shot, zoom in, and crank up your television's brightness. Which is apparently how most of the people in that forum have been spending their time.

To answer your specific question, the Canadian release is transferred from the exact same master as the US copy.

Beyond that, I'd say let's keep this conversation to the other forum.

Thanks ...

Not reading the other DVDTalk forums, I was not aware of those threads :) ... thanks for the pointer.

R4 Mulholland Drive

From Dark Horizons:

Mulholland Drive (DVD): After a no extra US disc, the Region 4 Australian version looks a little more impressive: an interview with David Lynch, Cannes press conference footage, and the trailer.

But will there be chapter stops??

Mulholland Drive

No chapter stops. Lynch doesn't want anyone to perceive the film in a convential narrative form - the kind that has squeezed the creativity out of most Holllywood films.

http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASI...904999-2718644 looks to be the best option being an utterly loaded SE.

Does anyone know whether The Art of David Lynch will be VO or VF?
