Proxis shipped my order of The Blade on 5/23, should I be concerned that it hasn't arrived yet? Also, so the word is that this HKL release is bloody pan and scan then?

Oh no, you still have about 3 more weeks. Mine took over a month. I think they ship from the Bermuda Triangle. They say, they still haven't received my return, which was shipped 4-7 day Airmail, over 3 weeks ago (letting the CC Company figure it out).

I say, wait till someone gets the one from DVDZone2. They are standing by what they have on their site.

I suggest emailing them now, and telling them you will not open the package and just send it back. Tell them their description on their site is SUCK!!! In a nicer way of course.

Well.. waiting for Trigger, Gypo66, and you to report back...

Would be really strange if DFW released a Pan and Scan English dub only -and- HKL released an anamorphic Cantonese version/English version at the exact same time.

But bloody hell, Tartan released an NTSC DVD that rivals the Japanese one. So yes, hell is starting to frost over a bit methinks.

Also Codefree, click on the link I posted above and then click on the HKL logo in the lower left side of the page. This takes you to the Dutch HKL release page....

"...Would be really strange if DFW released a Pan and Scan English dub only..."

...well, I read Niels van Eijkelenburg's (Dutch) review of the DVD that was included in axolotls return's post above and ...yes, DFW did indeed release a P/S English dub only, and what's more: one with Dutch subtitles... incidentally, the review rather damns the disc with faint praise - and, anyway, any true, serious fan of HK (or any other!) non-English-language cinema would/could/SHOULD not EVER 'prefer' a (shudder!) dubbed-into-English version...

...as always: just MNSHO, of course!...

. . . . . .

BLOODY HELL!!!

I received The Blade from Proxis today and the damn thing is 1.33 fullscreen. The distributor is DFW not HKL. The backcover says Dolby Surround but doesn't say which language it's in. It does have optional Dutch subs though. Haven't opened it nor will I but the disc is clearly a floater. I will return the damn package tomorrow!

Uh oh...
Looks like this Great Blade Debate is about to come to a not particularly pretty end.
I contacted dvdzone2 one more time before placing my order to ask them to physically check their stock to make sure their info was correct. I just got this email reply from them:

Hello,

> I have to admit I'm still a little worried because I am continuing to
> read on the internet that there is only one Dutch edition DVD of this
> movie, and this it is definitely NOT widescreen or in the original
> Chinese language or even released by Hong Kong Legends. According to
> many people who have already seen this DVD, it is a full screen,
> English dubbed DVD released by Dutch Film Works.

We receive this title today and you are perfectly right.

Sorry for this wrong information.

Best regards,

The DVD Zone 2 Team

Yep, this is the end. Here is dvdzone's "clarification" email:

Hello,

It's full screen and dubbed in English only.

Best regards,

They ignored my emails asking to cancel the order and they shipped it today. I'm angry with DVDZone2 now. Sheesh.

So I finally received my copy of "The Blade" from Proxis this afternoon, do I have any chance in hell in getting my money back if I return it?

I just got mine from Proxis today as well. I'm going to send it back. They say you have 7 days after delivery to send it back and get a refund. I'll definately use some sort of certified mail, so they can't say they haven't received it yet.

I disputed the charge on my CC, cause I sent it back over a month ago, and they say they still haven't received it yet. I sent it 4-7 day Airmail.

I don't care what this store has or what kind of deals they have, I will never even click on their page again!!!!
