region free upgrades

Does anyone know if there is any place in the US that will "make" a DVD player region free? (A place in California is preferable).
I have a Toshiba SD2200. It was a region free player until today: I made the mistake of taking it in for a firmware upgrade (had a disc that wouldn't load). The upgrade wiped out the region free setting. I'm hoping there's a way to fix it back, otherwise I'll have to buy another player.

Supposedly these guys can do it, I have no idea of what kind of service that they offer. They are based in Concord, CA.
