Futurama/Family Guy DVD on PS2?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum (I didnt know which other one it would belong in, so if this is the wrong one, feel free to move/delete it..)

Anyways, I heard that the "Gameshark 2" for playstation 2 (29.99$), can bypass the regional-lockout, on DVD (It turns the PS2 into a Region Free player.).

I was thinking of importing the PAL FAMILY GUY and FUTURAMA season-sets for my US (NTSC) PS2..

I just had 1 quick question, for anyone whos used their NTSC PS2 to play a PAL DVD..
does the picture come up distorted looking, or does the Gameshark 2 change it to a NTSC Signal as well?

And if not, what would it look like on a NTSC TV.. Would it be a real noticable difference, or would it just add a black border to the ousides of the picture?

--

Again, sorry if this is the wrong board

well a search for "gameshark" "ps2" and "pal" only result in this one thread...

I DO know this though: I have a PAL DVD and when I stick it in my ps2, I get a message saying something to the effect of "your tv is in the wrong format to watch this disk".

So I would guess that if you do bypass the regional coding on a PS2 with a gameshark, the PS2 may still NOT let you watch a PAL formatted DVD.

Shame, because I'd really like to get full season sets of South Park and Futurama.

Not only would your PS2 need to be regionless, but you would need a PAL Converter to view it through your television. The frequencies are different for display purposes, so chances are when you try to play it on a NTSC television, it will display in black and white and the picture would be rapidly scrolling. A Multi-system television is usually triple the price of a regular TV.

I have a UK PS2 and a copy of DVDRegionX from www.play.com

Im assuming its just a variant of the disc you mentioned.

The software inst the problem, its whether or not your tv can display a PAL signal, or in my case NTSC.

As for as i know the PS2 dosnt convert the signal, that would defeat the purpose of the region lock out codes etc.
