Buying a portable 'region free' dvd player: Which one to get?
You guys know of any websites that compare them in price, specs, etc? Or does anyone have one that they would recommend?
Thanks

KS-
I had the same question, but I had little luck in finding any info comparing portable players that were NOT in some soccer mom sort of deal.
Still waiting for the DVD player from HK, so I guess I can only give you info on 1; but it's a start.
I'm considering going to the thing in San Ramon, and I could be persuaded to bring it.
It's just sort of the awful fanboy stuff that I want to keep away from.

</small>Keyser, your opening post is made up of two separate sentences. It looks like someone answered the second sentence and then had their head bitten off (or at least were whacked with the infamous rolleyes of death) as a result.
Very uncool, IMO. (Unless I missed an "in-joke").

The post that I replied to seemed condescending when first posted but now that I look back at it, maybe I was wrong.
Apologies to that poster.
I will keep a shorter leash on the "rolleyes of death" smilie.

A portable would be cool; but I am afraid I'd thrash it.

What are you asking about exactly?
One good program is DVD Genie (http://www.inmatrix.com/files/dvdgenie_download.shtml) it's what I used with Cinemaster and now with PowerDVD.

I wasn't asking, I was telling. The DVD-ROM on my computer plays DVDs from any region....(I tried R2 and R3 with success)
