[Review] Claire Denis Trouble Every Day

http://www.nytimes.com/2002/03/01/movies/01TROU.html

To describe the sex scenes in Claire Denis's erotic horror film "Trouble Every Day" as indelible isn't to say they are the least bit inviting or easy to watch. This daring, intermittently beautiful failure of a movie, by the director who emerged with "Beau Travail" as one of France's greatest filmmakers, explores with gruesome explicitness the metaphor of sex as cannibalism.

Bet it's going to be a cult hit already!

Strange Vamire-esque Film

I saw this film several months ago in LA, it was quite captivating and very depraved. Vincet Gallo lurks on the screen in a haunting, repellent way. Tricia Vessey, who has a memorable role in Jarmusch's Ghost Dog, turns in an evocative, beautiful performance (she needs a lot more work, too bad Hollywood avoids the talent young actresses like the plague and embraces sculpted faces like a pig at a banquet)

The sex/murder scenes are grizzly, they'll be imprinted in your mental hardrive for quite a while after the lights go up.
