Argento's Sleepless 2 Disc Region O $15.99 (UK)

http://www.bensonsworld.co.uk/detail...=7000000067827

This is a bargain for several reasons:

The Artisan release was full screen - this is widescreen
It has the 60 min Argento "Eye For Horror" Documentary
It has a 15 min Featurette
Although it is listed as a Region 2 release, it is REGION FREE!
Free shipping worldwide

With the conversion to US Dollars, it should run you around $27 bucks. However, the lame US release is around $22.

Where do you see that the DVD is Region 0? The site lists it as Region 2.....

I own the DVD set and the DVDs are not regionally coded (they are Region 0). The strange thing is, the discs are labeled with R2 symbol although the cover sleeve is labeled with R0 symbol.

They are just PAL, if that can cause a problem.

anway, they are region 0 and they are brilliant (compared to stupid artisan release)

Thanks for the tip but Pal formatted DVDs will not play on Region 1 players.

Oh well....

You're absolutely right. When I saw Region 0, I posted without factoring in the NTSC/PAL differential. It doesn't affect me because I've got an APEX, but I assume others without a converter will be unable to watch this.

Mods - please move to the International Forum due to the PAL discrepancy...thanks!

Sounds tempting BUT is the movie any good?? I have read really mixed reviews on it and it is hard to decide. I for one didn't like the Stendhal Syndrome but have liked his other stuff. So maybe it is a toss-up... if someone could post a review....

Actually the price in U.S. Dollars should be closer to $23. I may be wrong but that price may also include specific taxes that are not charged to customers outside of Europe which could make it a little cheaper.

You're probably right actually. I just guestimated. I ordered the Family Guy set from Bensons for $19.99 and it came out to $28 and change on my card.

...ahh... no, you didn't!... Benson's World being a British company, the set price was - of course! - correctly given as 19.99...

I hope you were just joking. I wasn't implying that Bensonsworld was guilty of any wrongdoing. I understood there was a conversion difference from Pounds to Dollars. What I was trying to demonstrate was that the UK amount was numerically less than what the American amount would be. I just mistakenly put a dollar sign out of habit...

And that was the basis Hendrik's joke; hence his emphasis of the correct currency symbol.

FYI I've just changed the subject title where the same labelling error appeared to have occurred.

benedict: ...thank you!...

...incidentally - and only slightly OT - since the advent of the Euro it has become sooo much easier to compare prices for the same or comparable R2/PAL DVDs as quoted by e-tailers in various European countries (not including the UK, of course!)... interesting, too, to see the sometimes horrendous difference in price between one country and its neighbor - a difference that used to be 'hidden' due to the different currencies...
