Well, you probably know it's released here in the US. I came across this review, which gives it ZERO stars, and a rather disaparaging review:

Personally, I didn't like it as much as others seem to, but I still found it entertaining, and I'd give it maybe 3/5 stars. But ZERO?!!

Just thought this might generate some interesting discussion about this movie.

I've never had the chance to see it, and the Korean DVD was rather expensive. It's just been announced that Columbia Tri-Star is releasing it on 4/9 with the following features:

Anamorphic widescreen transfer
Dolby Digital 5.1 audio (English, French & Korean)
"The Making of Shiri" documentary
"When I Dream" music video
Trailers

Next to The Killer, Shiri is my favorite action film. I've never cared too much what critics or other people say about movies and this review is one of those reasons.

heh. Just read a review on the train today and the reviewer gave it an F. He kept disparaging by saying it doesn't look like a big budget movie and that it's ultraviolent. More violence. He also questioned why the US would release this three year old movie now. I think he is a moron but we are all entitled to our opinions.

I honestly give it a solid 7/10.

I didn't like the movie either but that is a rediculous rating for the movie...I'd give it a 6.5/10 or 7/10 too.

Audience I saw it with on Saturday seemed to enjoy it very much. Heck, I love this film. I could give a rat's ass what critics think.

I think this is one of those cases where the reviewer was so highly offended by the material that he/she gave it a zero out of disgust without being objective about it. Like - someone who was brought up to be highly homophobic and trying to review a film about two men falling in love with each other or perhaps a highly religious person reviewing a film that deals with subjects that go against everything they believe. The reviewer seems to have articulated their distaste for Shiri in such a way that it doesn't show, but I think that he/she just found the gore and violence to be too over the top for him/her to see past it and write a fair review. I mean - it's not Gone With The Wind or a Patch of Blue... it's an action movie... and a damn good one.

I totally agree, I don't think the reviewer was objective. I don't normally care much what critics say in deciding what to see myself, but it seems pretty irresponsible for a guy in a big publication to give that kind of review. What bothers me, is that there could be many people in LA curious about foreign films that would really enjoy the movie if they saw it, but after reading that review, decide not to see it. Hopefully, that's not the case and they ignore it.

when I saw it awhile back ago, I thought it was boring and definitely over hyped. I'd probably rate this as 3/10.
